Re: PMR Stk/SS Combo March 15&16
That was totally cool Carl. It actually brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for sharing and for giving back in a way that is so much more than just a racing award.....it is a piece of your heart!

Carl has just shown a prime example of why it is called Class Racing. God Bless you Carl.

Re: PMR Stk/SS Combo March 15&16
[QUOTE=Carl Battis;694801]I have decided to donate $1000 to the race purse to honor our late friend and Division 7 stalwart Diamond Jim Meador. He was a long time competitor and friend to so many in Division 7 who sadly passed away last year in August. The following is a brief tribute I wrote here on Class Racer upon learning of his passing:
Carl, What a great gesture! This honors our racing friend (sorry never met him) and adds a level of excitement to the event and the marketing of the event. (Sunday!,...Sunday!,... Sunday!....remember that?) Fortunately this type of thing is contagious. I hope more of us in the racing community consider similar support. Ray

Re: PMR Stk/SS Combo March 15&16
None of us are pre entered but we are loading up. Paul and Stephanie Wong have their rides in the trailer. Earl Blake is making some adjustments. Paul Wong gave me a ride to play with as well. Weather looks fantastic! Best I have felt in a while emotionally. Thanks Phil and Tony in advance!

Re: PMR Stk/SS Combo March 15&16
In addition to the prizes listed above
Paul Haszlauer and Mike Blackstone would like to put money toward the race- Mike Blackstone would like to put 500 dollars in memory of Trudy Haszlauer, his good friend Paul's wife who is truly missed by all who knew her. Also 300 to low qualifier and another 200 to be determined at the race. Trudy will definitely be watching this weekend. The amount of support shown so far for this race has been incredible. Thanks again everyone and we cant wait to see you all this weekend -PMR |

Carl, before we start the Combo today. a great thing you are doing in memory of Diamond Jim Meador (and for us all here, wish you were here also brother!) But, I do have an old story for you, I raced Jim a couple of times in the early 90's at Carlsbad, and talked a bunch with him and heard more Tham a few stories, both racing and music related, but the 1 of course I remember most, I think he would agree was most meaningful to him was that I was a third round victim to him at the 1997 Autolite Nationals at Sears Point in Sonoma, CA Summer of 1997. Leaving first my .006 to his 3 thou better. 003 (yes my last race against him he also hammered pff a .003 barn burner), and we went through the stripe together side by side to a barely very thin double breakout, he took the win with 3 thou between us, and I had a great albeit green but losing thin total package. He went on that day to win his first National Event, which made me feel a little better at the end of the day. He was a good man in my opinion, but if you raced him, you better have been up fully on the wheel and willing to tear the tree down because he was ready to always. RIP Diamond Jim Meador, and May the Lord bless you today and always Carl (and ty for "Meador's Cheddar" as a truly fitting tribute, and special thanks also to PMR for hosting us, MATSLV, all the participation from the Sponsors for the S/SS Combo, and the Las Vegas Strip for maintaining a first class facility as always, and still being alive as a racing surface. One of only a handful left in the west. Thinking of both you Carl and Jim. Gary Lucier 7832 EF/S-Kingman, AZ
