Re: San Antonio Raceway: IHRA Sportsman Spectacular
Just my opinion, they had about what I expected except I did think they would have had a few more stock and super stock. They should concentrate their efforts in places they know they can draw cars unless they want to continue to loose their a*#. IHRA could have that race at Rockingham or any number of tracks on the east coast and draw twice as many cars. I don't know why they keep trying to go out there maybe I'm not smart enough to see the whole picture but I wish I had a super stocker because I would take the chance on the tow if they decided to have another one out there.

Re: San Antonio Raceway: IHRA Sportsman Spectacular
It's a shame that more cars didn't show up to support the race, but down here in Florida, we sort of had the same problem at PBIR's IHRA points races. There weren't enough cars to really have a race. It sucked. It's the mentality that it has to be NHRA or nothing. I look at it, if you pay the right entry fee to the amount of the purse offered, I'm in. NHRA, you pay $180 to win $1k, give me a break, the local Saturday night you pay $50 to win $1k. There is something wrong with the picture. IHRA is at least in line with the entry to the purse.

Re: San Antonio Raceway: IHRA Sportsman Spectacular
2 things need to happen
1) Classy racers need to understand If it takes a "RE-ENTRY or BUYBACK" to race for 5 grand it's o.k. 2) IHRA needs to remember where it came from , The South not across the Mississippi. Chip Johnson |

car count would go up(LOL). I wished it was that easy, hell I would pay there way, if that all it took. I mean RJ did not even go and he lives there, and they won the first race there this year. Maybe Chip is right they need to stay east of the Mississippi. Butt at least there trying to give racers a choice.

Re: San Antonio Raceway: IHRA Sportsman Spectacular
I think this race would have had a much better turnout in Baton Rouge or Memphis. As stated before, they should look at races that typically have their best turnouts to host an event like this. Not to mention a lot of people don't care to race when it gets this hot.

Ya'll will get your chance to prove them wrong. The same race is scheduled in Memphis in October.

Re: San Antonio Raceway: IHRA Sportsman Spectacular
That wasn't exactly what I meant, I was merely pointing out that there was absolutely no interest in what was going on at this race.

Re: San Antonio Raceway: IHRA Sportsman Spectacular
I did go to this race partly for a chance at the purse and also I thought it deserved the support I could give it.
As far as I'm concerned IHRA has many idea's and problems that I do not care for. I wish they would ask for racers input to see what would be required to get the racer in this division support. Money is not the problem. Thanks Jerry Davis |
