Does anybody but me find it strange that NO racer that was actually there said anything about this ??? And there have been a few on this board that were there and NOTHING was said !!!
I'll believe it when I hear it from an actual racer that was there, not from IHRA's website !! Sounds fishy to me..... |

I attended the race. I was aware of the schedule change for Sun., so I was tardy going out there since I live less than an hour away. Therefore, I "personally" did not hear the annoucement, but was informed via cellphone that it was indeed made. However, I saw several rigs being towed out, and leaving, so I don't know!!!

As far as IHRA/NHRA I agree with T-Hall Ilive in div. 3 & I see not much differance between the to......other then I don't like the dubble headder thing. I can't cut on one or the other ...both have things I like & dislike.

When I ran the IHRA DIV-4 pro-am in san antonio a couple of weeks ago The Emmons boys,Cummings INC, Fred Hensen,Blackmon bros , etc
were there. The next week Fletcher,Helms,Bertozzi,Cummings,Stillings, etc were there. The last time I checked these guys weren't bush league. If you think they are stage your car against them and find out in person. Ed Carpenter 66 Chevy II 4244 SS/H

Busch league, jump in the waters good. It's tough anywhere anymore. This is the second race in a year where they made the Saturday call. They did it at Piedmont last year where they were calling for 90% chance of rain on Sunday. They finished the race about 10pm Saturday night and Sunday morning the rain was pouring down. I support the call and the article.

NHRA does have a standing rule ( in the pro pits only) that no rig can be moved until one hour after the final run is made. This is an safety issue with the spectators. In Houston , I feel NHRA did not want to track the return road with mud from the sportmans rigs.

I've been to IHRA events where leaving from the pits is prohibited during certain hours during the running of the event, and it has nothing to do with mud. I find it very unusual that someone from the IHRA felt it necessary to take a shot at the NHRA on this matter.

I hope the writer from IHRA didn't break his arm psatting himself on the back !!!
BUT......NHRA had a TV Schedule to meeet. IHRA.....TV ??? Because of HRP's location near the Bayou they have a naturally high water level. And then the evening dew that was coming in there was NO way to run the rest of the classes that evening !!!! So the "writer" is WAY off base and comparing "apples & oranges".. |

I wasn't there, don't know about a threat of a fine but NHRA did publicly state that no racer would be allowed to leave the grounds on Sunday until the race had completed:
