Bought this in '88 when I was a junior in high school, and it was my daily driver until halfway through senior year when I decided to do some rust repair. That turned into new GM quarters, fenders, header panel, and door skins, repro tail panel, rockers, floor pans, , and hood. Was a 327/210 PG originally, now is a 406 w/ 700R4 and 4.11 gear.
A buddy and I drove it from Omaha to Austin, TX and back about 10 years ago...it did pretty well, pulling down around 15 mpg with a 4779 Holley.

My chopper project. Bought the frame and different parts then made all mounts, axles, SS axle nuts, wheel spacers, brake caliper brackets, foot control system, Heavily modified 'bought' gas tank, oil tank and rear fender. Hopefully I will get it done, but we'll see.

Drove off the showroom in1973. Fastest production bike at the time. Still ride it near the house. Too many texting drivers for long rides. Two Stroke (smell) Phish
Which one is the original?

I had a 500 triple in 74, I don't remember a disc brake on them?
That thing was a death trap but it was fun and I survived.

They were nicknamed the Widowmaker. 75 HP and 350 lbs wet. In my young and dumb days would wheelie for what seemed miles. I ran low 12's with it at Golden Triangle Raceway in Beaumont, Tx. 3500 to 7500 rpm it was wicked. Never put it on the ground, your right; fun and I survived. Phish

Well, not a hot rod, but here is my other fun vehicle, which is incredibly dear to me.

1974 IHC Scout II. Purchased impromptu while taking a walk on a visit back to my parents in my home town in NJ with my finance (now my wife) with $500 cash, and then driven back home to Pittsburgh. It was a rusted mess, with almost no floor boards and less than half the exhaust system. Had the hard top on it at that time. By the time I got to Pittsburgh I had a CO headache like you cant imagine. Did a partial restore on it, and it then it took me to my wedding with my best man, and then unexpectedly (happened to take it to work that day when I got the call) to the birth of my second son.

Decided that given all that sentimental value it deserved a complete resto. I will never sell it.

I had a '72 and my neighbor had a '74. He redid his a couple times and I would get his cast-off parts. I had Denco street chambers, the sound was unreal. With all the vibration, chicks dug it.
