OK, let's look at the 1st part of 2017.

I've noticed that many of these Pontiacs have changed hands, thru the years. Several have changed hands quite a few times. I've noticed quite a few, in just the few short years I've been keepin up with 'em, online.

I remember reading in these Pontiac threads that some of you guys can just tell us, without even thinkin much about it, the 1st guy to race a car, & the next 2 or 3 owners, in the correct order. Sometimes the cars retain the same paint. Sometimes they are repainted, with a completely different color & look.

Most of the time, I find out, when one driver name is no longer listed with a certain car. But a different name shows up as the driver of the same type car. This is just an observation, which has very little or maybe nothing to do with this thread. So, I'll continue now by lookin at the 2017 Stocker season.

At Pomona, Lindy was #1 @ - 1.026. John Schloe was #7.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

At the AZ Nats, Scott, Brad & Larry were in the top 9.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

At the 1st div 7 race, Scott was #4 & Brad was #6.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

Scott, Brad, & Norman got their class wins at the Spring Vegas race.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

Randi Lyn got RU, at Topeka.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

Wow. That gets us thru May. The Pontiacs were still running good. But the drivers didn't do so great.

But hey, div & nat event competition is fierce. I understand that.

Pontiacs had a slow start that year. In fact, it was so slow, I decided to put the whole year on on this one post, which turned out to be a mistake. They came on strong, & had a pretty good year. Brad Koivisto had a great running '74 GTO. Norman Warling got his Cat running strong. Chris Stephenson established himself as a rising Pontiac star. So, anybody know the history of the '68 Bird he has ?

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Leo made it to the semi.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the AZ Nats, Randi Lyn was #4, & Leo was #6.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the 1st div 7 race, Leo was #10.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the Baby Gators, Adam Strang was #9 @ - 1.028. Thomas Strand, who bought Scott Burton's '70 Bird, was #14 @ - 1.014.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Adam won his class. And Thomas was RU in his class with what may be the quickest pass I've ever seen recorded, for a Pontiac Stocker, in Stock competition. Can anybody post a link to one quicker than 10.135 ? I know the car recorded a 9.98 at a bracket race. Anyhow, it is the quickest Pontiac powered Stocker I've ever heard of.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Adam Strang won 4 rounds of competition. That's extremely hard to do with a stick car. I think Adam has the only stick Pontiac still in competition. So, it's probably the quickest stick Pontiac Stocker, ever. Hey, that's cool. The quickest auto & stick Pontiac Stockers were in this race.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the Gators, Chris was #3, & Randi Lyn was #5.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

And Randi Lyn won the Gators !

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the Spring Vegas Nat, Brad Burton picked up his class win, on a holeshot.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Brad also won the div 7 Vegas race !

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Chris picked up his class win, at the N.C. 4-Wide Nats.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the Idaho div 6 race, Ryan Warter was #2 @ - 1.129.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Brad got semi.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At this div 3 race, Logan Galbraith picked up his 1st div win, in the '74 Grand Am he bought from Don Turk !

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At this Fontana div 7 race, Pontiacs had 4 of the top 9 positions, + #13.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Leo was RU.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Billy Nees made it to the semi, in his 301 powered '79 Lemans.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

That gets us thru May. Pontiacs did pretty good.

2019 results, part 2.

Yes, I realize that anybody who wants to can look these results up for themselves, on DRC. But, I don't personally know anybody else who loves Pontiac V8 Stock/SS racing enuff, and has the time, who would look up these results & go to all the trouble of posting links to all the info, so that anybody interested can just click on the links to see the results.

I am the guy who does & will.

As long as these links will still access the DRC info, this thread will remain a source of at least a part of Pontiac drag racing history.

There are LOTS of links here. I make mistakes. If ya'll notice that I have posted the wrong link, or whatever, please let me know, and I'll edit the post & correct the mistake.

Let's begin with another big win for Randi Lyn ! Her 2nd of the year & 7th overall !

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At Topeka, Chris was #4.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Brad won this div 6 race !

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Rob Holmes was #3, & Chris was #4, at this Indy div 3 race.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the Mile High Nats, Norman was #5.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

And it was an all Pontiac final !!! Dwaine Davis was RU, & Gary Riley was the winner, in his '74 Lemans wagon !

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Norman was #1 at this Topeka div 5 race.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Julie Biermann was #7 at the Norwalk Summit Nats.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At this Earlville div 5 race, Kevin Love was #3 @ - 1.031. Norman was #5 @ - 1.003. Brad Koivisto was #7 @ -.992.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Randi Lyn got RU at this PA Nat event.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the Kansas div 5 race, Norman was #2.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the Vegas Fall Nat, Chris won his D/SA class. Randi Lyn was RU.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

At the Pomona Finals, Chris was #1 @ - 1.174.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

It was another great year for Pontiac Stockers !

Chris's car was an unfinished project of another Stock/Super Stock racer. A few years ago, Chris acquired it and completed the build.

Default Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers

As mentioned, I make mistakes.

Also, I've noticed that in div 1, 2, & 4, there are very few Pontiac powered cars. And, of those few, not all of 'em make all the races. So, some races may have 1 Pontiac, or maybe 2, and some have no Pontiacs , at all.

Because of this, I admit that I have not scanned every single div race. In div 4, I usually don't even scan all the big races, cause there are seldom any Pontiacs entered.

Also, there are smaller Stock/SS combo races, open races, & probably a few other types of races I don't know about, and/or don't have access to the results. .

Therefore, I ask again that if anyone here knows of a Pontiac win I miss, please post that info.

Just learned of a 2016 div 1 win that I missed. Todd Hoven won it, with his '68 Bird. It's the car that I had so much trouble getting the correct ID on. So, if I have it straight, it is the car that Roy & Mike McKinney, traded to Truman Fields, in the deal where they got Truman's '68 Bird, with which he had won the '73 US Nats.

Truman, then took that car & got it running quicker, and raced it for many years. He won the C/S class with it, at the '77 US Nats, the same year that Mike McKinney won Stock, with Truman's original Bird.

So, many years later,Todd got it, & it was painted & raced as a Truman Fields "Hard Times" tribute Bird, for a while. Then, it was returned to an original green color, without all the lettering, and Todd continued to race it for a while. Then he began to drive a Mopar for someone else, and Duane Hoven drove the Bird. At, least I HOPE, I have it all straight now.
