That Dart was posted awhile back & I hadn't seen it before this pic. either. Know nothing of this car. I doubt it's mine tho due to damage. See pics below.
The damage on my car is P Side right above the wheel opening, & it looks to have been caused from being twisted, ie: quarter not reattached properly to outer wheel tub after Hurst cut the opening. Hennesey confirms my suspictions in one of our conversations back when, telling me he had to have the car straightened on a frame jig when he got it.
The drivers side quarter & door are undamaged. Pic is not that great, but therre isn't any repair work done on the outside or inside of the DS quarter or door, even today.

My Hemi Dart has the same "wrinkling" of the passenger quarter, probably happened with a lot of them! BTW, I am still looking for color pictures with the first paint job when Richard Shipley from Baltimore, MD bought the car and first raced it.

Thankyou for making this thread what it is today.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to all.

Night Before Christmas, Mopar style...

'Twas the night before Christmas and out on the streets,
Only Mopars were winning against Fords and "Heartbeats."

The stop lights were hung over the streets with care,
Getting ready to change for those drivers who dare.

The children were nestled all snug in there beds,
While visions of Hot Wheels danced in their heads.

My wife was on the phone and I in the garage,
Staring at my Miss Mopar collage.

When out on the drive rolled up such a rumble,
You knew for the owner it was hard to be humble.

I recognized the sound but had to see for myself,
I knew this was no blue oval elf.

I was right, there it was, in it's plum crazy glow,
A '71 426 'Cuda built for go.

The black billboard split as the door opened wide,
A large sack of parts was then tossed outside.

A leg swung out with a tall black boot,
Then there he stood in a red and white suit.

It was Santa, St. Nick, in all of his glory,
"But Santa, please tell me, just what is the story?"

"Where is your sleigh, your eight tiny deer?"
He said "I traded them in on 425 horses and a 4.10 gear!"

"I test drove 'em all, every single musclecar,
But none can beat 'Cheevies' like a Hemi Mopar!"

"And son you've been good and learned all the tricks,
So I'm swapping your small block for a 426!"

Then he grabbed up his tools and went straight to the chore.
The swap took one hour, no less and no more.

This guy was good, but something wasn't right...
Santa couldn't have learned to do that overnight.

He torqued the last nut and then walked away,
"With this," he said proudly, "you'll beat 'Cheevies' all day!"

All at once it hit me, I recognized the voice,
His skill with the tools, his words of choice.

Once I figured it out, it was really no surprise,
This was Big Daddy Don Garlits in a Santa disguise.

He collected up his tools and went back to his ride,
Put his stuff in the trunk and hopped back inside.

With a whine of the starter, the beast came alive,
And with a shift to reverse, he backed out of my drive.

With pistol grip in hand he shifted into first,
And the 'Cuda jumped forward with a quick but smooth burst.

I could see he was happy about what he had done,
He had turned my car into major Mopar fun.

But he had to be going, he had much to do,
Lots of Hemis to be swapped in hours too few.

And I heard him exclaim as he snatched second gear...
"Have a smooth running Christmas and a Mopar New Year"

Has this Dart been mentioned or accounted for here? I borrowed this pic from a fellow Facebook user and have no information about the car pictured.

Don't ask me on what page but, yep. That one's been noted.
That is a great picture of it. More detail than I remember seeing.

Seems most every car on a track had an STP sticker on it back then.lol

Here's a post in this thread from 09-16-2009, 07:59 AM that mentions this car. The original attachment is no longer viewable.

So he had me obtain a new, replacement complete FLOOR panel (remember, this is in 1976) and then got it dipped, as in chemically enhanced, and installed. He then wanted Hayes to install a roll bar (not a cage) made of exhaust tubing. There was a big battle over that one. I did not witness Hayes actually installing it, but it may have happened! Where this car is now, I have no clue.

The pic a990hemi posted was taken by my dad that I put up on Facebook, he thinks its from E-town about 1980.

You should've made him an offer to buy it.

I believe I have another photo of this car (somewhere) in my collection. If I find it, I'll post it.

Someone called me about a year ago and said they had Shiplet's Dart,
and that the car was in bad shape. they also said it had no vin# as the tag had been used to rebrand another vehicle.
If you have his car , call me as I know his son, and he may have pictures of it. Also Richerd brought the car to me to do suspension work direct form Detroit when he purchased it.
Not sure who has what but will try to help if posible.
