Re: Ford cj, and nhra at it again!!!!
How many of the '08 Cj owners are going to cry when they have to run a '10 heads up with, which has a bigger supercharger. Stepped on their own combo by Ford!

What does putting them in a FI class have to do with correct factoring? All that does is protect the the classic combos from heads up runs. They have to run them before they are going to get hit.

IHRA properly classified these cars by putting them into the AA and A Fuel Injected classes. IHRA showed a lot of class by putting the new cars in a place where they can sort out their real power potential while not taking an unfair advantage of a large portion of the racers. Not looking for perfection here just a fair shake for as many racers as possible.

Interesting marketing... wouldn't Ford be embarrassed to advertise that their purpose-built supercharged race car only made 435 HP?

Yea, I'm sure Mullally and all of the other execs are lying awake at night. It's only a little 281 cubic inch motor. Get over it.

Re: Ford cj, and nhra at it again!!!!
I totaly agree that the new fords are way out there, and something should be done about it! The problem i have here is that you people are tearing eachothers throats out, and for what? Charley comes off a little strong here, but the thing that i would look at is that some one is still thinking about sportsman drag racing, maybe not the individual racer, but as a whole. They could have spent the money and time in nascar, or road racing! As long as their is still interest in stock, and super stock we still have a chance to grow. Now the poweres to be may not be helping that, but neither is killing each other over it! Just my thoughts!

Re: Ford cj, and nhra at it again!!!!
Ralph, I'm sorry you are not happy with X-plan. You are right in that you can most often get a better deal, but at least there is something in place to help racers. In the Olds days, the economy was ripe, and it's a different world now. Olds gave away bodies, not complete race cars. Ford is doing the same for some racers. All I'm saying is that Ford is helping racers.
"The only way this would help the sportman racers if the Auto companies would give a few of these cars the racers who do the best job of representing them! Sorta like the Oldsmobile days."
