Re: Fastest 340 Mopars stockers in the country ?
As I recall John did most of his own work from carb down. I believe he was 60 plus even then and one of my Heros.

Re: Fastest 340 Mopars stockers in the country ?
Guys,
Do you believe the '70 340 Six Pack factored at 328 HP is still a good combination for D/S? |

Re: Fastest 340 Mopars stockers in the country ?
I think the 340 6 pack Challenger is a great combo. That is why I started building one. With all the enhancements it has been sitting for a couple of years. Gene is the only person I know of that ever made one fly. Steve Hahn tried it in the 70's never ran strong. McCoy in div 6 has a AAR very consistent car goes rounds but not real quick. Errol Farmer has a AAR it was pretty quick. At 320 hp It is a great combo compared to 314 for the HC Thermoquad combo.

Re: Fastest 340 Mopars stockers in the country ?
Thanks guys,
Someone stated that Gene ran C/SA with his Challenger. It seems like it would be difficult to get an E-body that light. Agree? |

Re: Fastest 340 Mopars stockers in the country ?
70 CHALLENGER TA as an auto 328 hp X 9 + 170 = 3122
An E body is not that much heavier than an A body with the glass hood, aluminum manifold, 4 wheel after market brakes, super light wheels, CM roll bar, small fuel cell 2900 lbs is easy. I know i have one. The 71 340 is rated at 314 in the classification guide for A and E bodies it used to be 310 in E bodies but an A body guy wrote a letter to NHRA and got the hp added to the E. The 70 340 AVS is 299 which isn't bad if you have Chuck Beach build you a carb.
