The flu season lasts approximately 6 months and it kills about 50,000 people per year in the U.S. Covid-19 has killed close to 55,000 people in a little over 6 weeks! It's like comparing apples and oranges!

Interesting how you did not post the next paragraph in that article.

The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly. Since this disease is caused by a new virus, people do not have immunity to it, and a vaccine may be many months away. Doctors and scientists are working on estimating the mortality rate of COVID-19, but at present, it is thought to be higher than that of most strains of the flu.

And if you have one of those Republican Governors you may not be living by the end of this year. There would be thousands more Covid 19 deaths without the stay at home orders by competent Govenors.

Even if your 16 week number is correct; as of right now, COVID-19 has killed almost 56,000 people. The flu season usually lasts 6 months, which is 26 weeks, and the flu kills about 50,000 people. COVID-19 has killed more people in a much shorter period of time and the deaths are increasing daily and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

If that is the answer how come New York is in such shambles. They have been under the same stay at home order as the rest of us and it sure didn’t seem to work real well there. The only thing the stay at home order has done is put people out of work and in the poor house. Hopefully our governor will start to ease up on the quarantine so people can get back to work to feed their families and pay their bills.

Nothing is foolproof because fools are such ingenious people. This isn't hard to understand. The virus had the opportunity to run wild in one of the most densely populated places on earth before it was detected. Just think how many more people would be dead if the Governor hadn't shut the state down. That is my answer.

You would probably understand NYC (and it's issues) a bit better if you had ever used the subway system there. Not even any room for elbows. Many residents don't have cars, no place to park one. WAY too many people in one place.
