Even better, the 413/420 combo. I would love see either of these combo's in use. My question is do you have to run the tall deck block used for the early 383's or can you use the short deck. It would seem that the 4.25x3.38 bore stroke combo would be better for making power versus the early bore stroke combo(but I'm not an engine builder). Either way I would love to see either combo in use.

Fun, but it would be the heaviest GT/A car out there!

The 343 setup uses AFB's, and I believe that certain currently available Edelbrock's are OK.

Jeff,
Of course you would claim the 500 hp engine from the B-bodied car, not the 507 hp engine from the A-bodied car ... hemi, 4 speed in your AMC, that would be neat ..

Let's see, a Hemi in an AMX.

Trying to handle that sounds like Wild Willie Borsch and his one-armed approach with the legendary AA/FA roadster years ago. So go for it already!

Fred Englheart built one of those many years ago but never had time to sort it out but it looked promising...drawback, the 426 max wedge's factored down to the same HP as the 413.

What would be the weight distribution on that combo......90% front/10% rear?

The carbs are typically 3258 and 3259 and flow on my bench 445 and 450 cfm. The 383 inline is a great SS engine. The 413 would be poor as it has the same heads and carbs. The 383 is a low block and will allow more hood clearance for a ram type mani, Paul.

I think the key would be getting the NHRA to ok an aluminum head like the 440 source head but with the correct valve size.
