This, was NOT acid dipped, it was stamped this way. Never seen one before or after.
If I remember correctly, it weighed 13 pounds less than an uncut original.

Landy probably had that special ordered from Chrysler engineering...I wonder if any of the other factory teams got one of those lightweight K-Members. (I know a few years earlier the A/FX teams were using lightweight K-members as well, but they were prone to cracking.)

It's a very cool piece, & it's never been cut for a full length pan. There were no cracks on it, but the steering box mount flexes ALOT when turning the wheel.
At first I thought it was acid dipped, but the edges are too crisp & sharp. A definate telltale sign of anything acid dipped is to check the edging. If it's tapered it's dipped.
And I got corrected in the actual weight difference of this one . I quessed 13 lbs, it's actually 8 lbs.

Bet they NEVER figured it would still be around 44 years from the date they engineered it.

Liteweight, I'm assuming that K member was from your old Landy project or did you keep it and install it in your current '68 Hemi Dart, (it's origins). Also did you find any other lightweight pieces not offered by the factory or perhaps made by someone else.

Iv'e been fortunate to see a few sets of pretty cool sets of cylinder heads.
1) Weslake Big Block Chrysler
2) Weslake Indy Ford
3) D5 Hemi
4) Four valve Canted valve bucket activated inline six cylinder Chevy off road truck engine

I would like to see the BB Mopar Weslake heads. I've never heard of them. I remember the Weslake SB Mopar and Ford heads where the intakes point straight up. I seem to remember they could have a Weber downdraft carb bolt on directly. Any description you can give us?

Alex,
I was at the annual Mustang car show in Roanoke Va. today and saw two different cars with the tunnel wedge intake manifolds on them.

Your correct. That K member was on the Landy stick car when I purchased it. I offered it to the current owner, but he was not interested in it. I installed it on my current car for awhile, but decided to sell it. It currently resides under Marfens ( Gene's Speed Shop) Dart
When I purchased the Landy car there just wasn't alot of a Hemi Dart left from Dicks racing days.
