Danny (Geerhead),
Good pick-up. The 68 Charger R/T Hemi 4-speed. Ran and won the SS/E (Super Stock/Eliminator) at the 68' AHRA Winternationals. Ran in A/MP in NHRA for 68' Too heavy for class, put Dick at a disadvantage. Converted to B/MP for 1969. Also, brother Mike ran the 68' Coronet R/T with the 440 in SS/F, and SS/FA. pc Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 10-13-2011 at 12:42 PM. |

bringing up an old post here but going way back but i beleive the sox and martin gtx was not a gtx they did that for chrysler sales the car was a RO belvedere II with gtx badging on it. the landy 67 car the eric now owns we knew where the car was but never knew for sure if it was in fact his car since all the tags were off of it until he asked about it but it still had all the paint and writing on it from crazy james from the soulful strutters who got it from purkle if thats how u spell it. the car was bought with 361 miles and stuffed in a barn for years (landy took many tags off and kept them in a jar in his house from what we heard) but also he had two 67 cars and as far as i know both of the cars were 440 cars but he put a hemi in one and ran it that way??
also i have a big question for you guys out there. mike landy ran a 68 dodge coronet r/t right? from what i heard is he ran this car then it was sold to purkle and at that time landy had it painted blue but the r/t painted on the quarter was taped off and left on it that car was a 440 auto. a curious car just popped up by me and there are a couple things on it that tipped me off to one of landys cars comparing it to his other ones and what he did to those are done to this one can someone give me alittle info i know they had several 68 cars in the pits with them but hearing how this car disappeared in the southern state i have to beleive its the same car |

Jeff,,,
It is all very cvonfusing..... 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T Hemi. Turquiose with white vinyl top,,,,,,,,bucket seats. Ran in SS/B in 1967,,,,,, It was a 4-speed car,,,,,,,,,and a flat hood. Winternationals 1968,,,,,,,it ran with a flat hood, and in SS/D At the Hot Rod Magazine Championships in March 1968, at Riverside Dragway in California,,,,,,,,Mary Ann Foss was the designated driver,,,,,,,,,it was classed in SS/DA They put on a scooped-hood off of the W/O Coronet Model 440. The 1967 W/O Coronet Model 440 came through with bench seats, not bucket seats. Style-wise, the R/T emblems stood out. pc |

Ed,
This might answer the question, 1968 NHRA Winternationals. 1968 Hemi Charger, classed in A/MP (with the small hood scoop) |

Its really amazing, all the different photos that pop up from back in the day. Paul, I'm wondering if anyone has a shot of ABC sportscaster Keith Jackson in or around one of Dick's Chargers. I remember an in car camera run, down the the track, that Keith took with Dick, banging away on the shifter, that aired on "Wide World of Sports" many years ago. Not sure if it was Pomona, but I'm guessing it was.
What would really be a home run is if someone could come up with the footage. Thanks for all you're doing Paul. Danny Durham |

Here's a few more Dick Landy photos, his 70-71 426 Hemi Challenger R/T pro stocker, and his SS/EA 70 426 Hemi Charger R/T driven by Bob Lambeck.

I found these really cool photos on another web site last night. Dick Landy's Flyin' Wedge 440-powered Dodge Charger R/T was featured in a two-or-three part (I forget) build-up in Car Craft magazine in 1969. Photos are from the Indy "Nationals" of the same year.

In looking through this entire thread no one mentioned the FORD that Dick Landy ran in early 62. It was a 406 tri power stick shift? liteweight car. There is a picture of it on the website by George Klass. The photo is from Muscle Car Review 1/88. I know Dick got all his fame in Dodges, but he did have a Ford briefly.
