So my guess for Liteweight's Hemi Dart is the Manhattan Speed Shop car, that is if it hasn't been found yet.

And for my guess on marfen's Hemi Dart, I'm gonna go with Liteweight's pick as well and say Gene O'Neils old car.

Also have the S&K Hemi Dart, or the Go Hummer Hemi Darts been accounted for yet, so which ones are still missing in action?

And remember who ever finds out the information on these cars will get something from the owners, and the person that made the right choice will get something as well hopefully...wish me luck.
Maybe the owners should have a lil ol say in the winners circle huh?.
I'm fiquring something like this. Once my car has been documented as the car that the person claims it to be I will provide an all expenses paid, for 2, you & your better half, at your favorite restraunt. You send me the bill & you will get reimbursed. I better put a cap on it, let's say $500.00. In reality it's a small price for me to pay to find what I've been looking for 7 plus years. I've spent more than that on long distance phone calls for this. Sound good? Nothing like alittle incentive to get things moving.

This is my all time favorite picture of Dick in my old car. Yardin the hoops after side stepping the clutch @ 5000RPM, ready to pull second, & at the same time looking right at the camera chompin on a cigar.

These are pictures of both the auto & the stick car. The easiest way to tell the difference ( without the window designation) is the decal placement on the front fenders. The stick car has the Hurst decal right in front & the auto car has the Fram in front

Question Re: Original hemi dart information

?..What ever became of the orig. class of " 83 ",68 SK Dart , It was re-painted black ,I remember ,and was street-raced during late 69- early 70's. ,by (Ron / John Lyle) out of Brookyln ,AKA, "Mutt Bros." ,in and around Conduit Boulevard, JFK, and some streets in Jersey..also @ Wendsday(s) ,Raceway Park,@ big money "street" nights..I was a t-shirted, 20 yo wide eyed kid.., at a diner in JFK one SAT.night , I recall Carmen Rotunda was there with one of Brooklyn "Heavys" car,(I think a ex-S&M Cuda).I never saw that much ca$h handled ever..even at my bank.. Lyle won. Re-match ended when 5-0 showed up w/ pistols drawn.

Funny part looking back.now...how 140 + mph tin cans handled a 70's NY street w/o much drama and how a large , quite unsavory and disparite race and age group assembled ..yet,seemed to engage and bet big ,and I mean BIG $$, w/o nary an issue.
Not so today..ever.

Does this mean that there were other 68 Hemi Darts built earlier? or was this just some sort of "one off mule car" before production of these started?, or were there actually more built after this earliest one known? So you see it will be very difficult to nail down an exact number on these cars, or should I say my car is number # so & so?

.
Hemi Moose
I pulled out all my old NHOA newsletters & could not find any reference to the 297833 car from Pete Haldeman as you pm'd me about (Dec.1989). The only thing I found was in the Jan.1990 newsletter & the earliest car is the 297858 car of Dan Morgans. Gene Snows car is then 297857? To clear this up can you post the earlier cars than 297860? The Landy stick car is 297859. Also, can you scan that article you found with the 833 car & post it?

This car was my first lead to my cars history. Had Mark Janaky & Paul C. on the trail of this one, but so far have come up empty with no new info. There is a ressemblence from Lou Vignonia purchasing my car in Mt' Kisco & the above car possibly landing up in Mt. Kisco.
Any input from someone out there who might have some memories about this old street war horse from NY? or some more names I can follow up?.

Anyone out there know John Brown from Pennsylvania? He had 2 Hemi Darts he ran @ the Supercar Showdown , Quaker City Raceway, Salem OHIO. One was mine. any pics, video, etc greatly appreciated. When I first got the car I could see the impression in the paint of John's name lettered down the side. The other one was on the front of one of the old NHOA newsletters (w pro stock scoop)

I just thought of Carmen Rotunda..if u can do a search on his status..Think he was working and driving on some of these cars as a hired gun.
Had a speed shop in Union NJ, then Last I heard (10 yrs) he was domiciled somewhere in FLA.

You describe ME back then to a "t." Except my t-shirt daze were in the mid-late-1970s.

I've witnessed 'street-type' events like that back in the early-mid-1980s in my neck of the woods, though certainly with not as much cash changing hands and with much slower, truly streetable cars doing the battling. The common denominator that kept such a "diverse", "unsavory" and (potentially) volatile crowd in check were the cars.
