No, all my posts are not done from my work computer and why do you care? I just made it clear why I do not use my name. Although I do not have the need to explain myself to you, my posts are done during my breaks, lunch and sometimes I stay a bit longer at the office so I can respond to people like you. It is up to me to share my knowledge and perception; many on this site approve what I share and many many times they contact me for information or help. If you do not like it, go pound on sand. Yes, there are many on this site with lots of knowledge and expertise, and they also get lashed out by others too. This is a free country were people have the right to exercise their opinions like you and I. ...and by the way...like you, I am formerly from the east coast; born and raised in New York. This is my last response to you on this subject...I am not wasting anymore bandwidth with you! |

And who, might I ask,are "people like me"?. You have the option, not the right, to dish out what you percieve as facts.Like Kenny says, this board is not run like a democracy. The Admins. have the final say. What bearing does it have that you are formally a New Yorker?Does it mean you're I.Q. is in the upper 10%? I've always heard the saying stated as "pound salt".Maybe you came from the East side.I came from the West side. As my dear friend Ed Obrien says.Have a nice day. Oh BTW 2,315 posts.I'm retired 10 years now.I have a ***** load of time on my hands.

Re: Alcohol dragster?
Aside from the fact large dragster slicks will bounce under heavy breaking, the frames are not stiff enough to support the type of braking power some are calling for. Look how much flex is built into the cars just for acceleration.
I'm no engineer, not even a chassis builder, but that's what I perceive is a problem with braking a 300+ MPH flexi car. And as far as using names, it's not always politically feasible. There is a reason racer sites that call for "real names" only have such a low participation rate. Sometimes it's because you want to call out illegal modifications that are stealing from all of us, sometimes it's because of other reasons. When I see somebody like SSDiv6 post comments which seem sound regarding safety issues, I could care less where he or she works, or when he posts for that matter. And if I were in a profession which performed back ground checks for job retention, promotions or change in employment, the last thing I would want is my name all over the internet as a blogger. I figure if you need his name your just looking for dirt at this point.

I don't think posting on a racing website will get the attention of Soviet intellegence. If Mr SSDiv6 didn't tell us of his "sensitive" employment I don't think it would have been an issue. But every time someone posted an opinion of what can possibly be a solution to helping save someone from dying while racing there he was telling us it wouldn't work. How many major advances in history were laughed at/mocked by so called experts. Oh yeah i forgot, the world is flat. Maybe if he offered some constructive ideas I wouldn't be so crass in my posts here.

Re: Alcohol dragster?
Ed, best I can tell, the only thing he has been really wrong about is the secondary parachute retention. And you should consider that while NHRA is looking at such a device, they already had an updated or upgraded parachute mounting spec.
It is just as necessary to have people point out the problems with ideas as it is to have people to propose ideas. That's how ideas are developed and refined.

Being in an industry that spends a lot in R&D, there is a lot of technology in both aerospace and motor sports that are aligned. In the past, I had my share of discussions with SFI as regards to many issues including metallurgy, welding and other stuff just to go in to deaf ears. I am not the only one; Brad Hadman, who is considered one of the premiere chassis builders for Alcohol and Fuel classes has also clashed with SFI and NHRA many times as regards to issues related to these classes. I do not consider myself to know it all, however, due to my job, I have a lot of tribal knowledge on technology that allows me to be selective on what may or may not work. In addition, I go and pick on the brains of many of my colleagues that are experts in many areas such as metallurgy, stress, brake design and many other areas that can be in sync with our sport. As a matter of fact, many motor sports teams even contract our wind tunnel facilities and experts for their own R&D. As many are curious about aerospace technology, many of my colleagues are also curious and intrigued about motor sports. |
