Class Nationals SS/K Sponsorship
If you have been following the build up to the SS/K Shootout, then you know the effort Ed Carpenter has put into this. He has promoted the class for the benefit of fans and racers.
You may not be aware that Ed himself has been facing extreme adversity in his personal and racing life! From his father's health, his health not to mention issues with an engine, updating his car and hoping his tow rig can make the trek to OH. I look at this as an opportunity. This is an opportunity for the many of us to show our appreciation for his support of class racing and never quit spirit! Let us all help sponsor Ed in his quest to compete in the SS/K Shootout. I am willing to help coordinate. Come see me at the Indy points meet, the Class Nats or contact me directly. Jimschaechter@earthlink.net 563-505-0293 post or pm me with ideas or contact info. I will start it up with a 100 dollar pledge for tow money. Can I get a hell ya! Time to drop your keyboards and do something for the racer that would never ask, but would give his all for others. Time to make a difference! Can you? Will you? Jim

Re: Class Nationals SS/K Sponsorship
I deffinately would like to see Ed make it there after all his hard work. It sounded like he might need a set of heads, at least temporarily. I'll find you sometime Friday morning at Columbus and match your offer, Jim. Lets hope others chip in too.

Re: Class Nationals SS/K Sponsorship
Awesome! You may have heard that Ed had a cylinder head fail on the dyno. Robin Brown sent him a casting and the guys at Trumbles got it prepped, put together and back on the dyno! Ed and his son put the engine in last night still warm from the dyno! These aren't no Country Club Racers!
Please show your appreciation for this racer! Thanks Danny for getting us started! You know, Ed secured over 7,000 in contingency for the shootout! Let's help him out with our own grass roots sponsorship! I will accept any level of support and bring it to him. Ed has a great story to tell to get this far. He represents what we all want to be as sportsman class racers!

Re: Class Nationals SS/K Sponsorship
Thanks Jim for starting this - it's been on my mind for a couple weeks now but I had no idea how to coordinate it. Ed just keeps getting kicked in the gut, and it's time he had some good happen!
I wanted to go to the ClassNats but won't be able to this year, so at least I can contribute to Ed's efforts. I'll email you for details. |

Re: Class Nationals SS/K Sponsorship
Already in - I had committed to $100 the other month. The amount of work he's done for the race, the amount of stuff he's had to do on his car, and the amount of stuff he's gone through in his personal life is just staggering, and he doesn't quit!
They went from a destroyed cylinder head on Saturday to this, just posted last night around midnight his local time...

Re: Class Nationals SS/K Sponsorship
I will throw some $'s in. Ed has worked his butt of for the shootout and should definitely be part of it.
Where do I send the money? |

Jim Schaechter 1718 Howard st St.Charles Il 60174 I do have paypal and can do that if that is easier. I also will be at the Indy points meet this weekend, but I won't get there until tomorrow night. The support is great for a friend of Sportsman racing, Ed Carpenter. Nothing would be better then to see Ed grab some gears at The Class Nats so he can enjoy the fruits of his labor. If ever there was a racer that deserved a sponsorship it is Ed. I really appreciate those that have contributed and would ask that you consider helping at any level. It adds up!
