Vegas Comp qual # 1
I think that Jirka's run in Q1 is the first 1. plus under run, I have ever seen. Darned impressive, but I wonder if he thinks about how much he pops hisself for. 1 under in Comp ? Wow ! Before the CIC, there was some close to that, if they did'nt get it.

I'd be willing to bet that is either a typo or driving/tuning mistake.

According to DRC and people at the track, it was a -1.003 pass........ 6.12 @ 223...... not positive on the numbers......... rumor is that Kaplan is aiming to dip into the 5's but missed it on this pass........ supposedly was a little out of the groove around half track......... VERY IMPRESSIVE

He ran a tad more than 1.1 under a few years ago at sea level at Mission. That is one badass altered! It is real close to being an alky funny car with a '23-T body. He has the chassis dialed in like nobody else. It hooks and goes straight. The max permanent CIC hit for one event is a tenth, and I don't think he's too worried about it.

He will be in Pomona too. Should get into the 5s there. And I don't think index matters to him. I hear that the alterd may be parked next year and his AA Gas Corvette will be in Pro Mod.

Re: Vegas Comp qual # 1
Guess Kaplin is showing what his car will really run. Why am I wondering if Al Billis isn't in this mix somewhere? Be great to have a large purse comp race (win 100K) once a year, at a known fast track.Format is the record with a tenth breakout. Heard of that before? No permanent penalty, non points meet. Most of the time the racers quietly slide to a meet somewhere and set the record, take the record back or replace an expired record. Good for them, but let's see them really run.My lottery win first wish!
