I'm OK with that. Let's ALSO get 727s back in all of those early BB and 340 cars. And I'm not talkin' about "pro-flites".

Hey, I'm OK with going back to the "valve spring" rule or at least a 150# seat rule.
That'll will fix things in a REAL hurry!

This battle can go on and on.

Better strip all the Metric 200s C-4s, solid rear axles in corvettes, aftermarket heads for everyone and all the other super ceded intake manifolds (which there are plenty besides the mopars).

Valve springs too while you are at it cant agree more.

Absolutley,All makes transmission back to orignial what came with the car, then this ridiculous new trans shield rule would actually start to make sense.
I never seen a Pro Trans,Rossler etc expire in such way!

p.s. by the way, does anyone have the full story why the 390 Ford ended up like it did,NHRA's first crate engine!

Somebody on here will probably know the story better that I do and correct it but the way I understand it, in 67 Mercury Comet convertibles were the Indy Pace Cars and in order to make enough power to pace the race, a couple of cars were given big cams, Edelbrock intakes and bigger Holleys. And it got manipulated into being a "Police Interceptor Package".

While we are at it, lets go back to the 'stock' duration & overlap on cam shafts.

While we're dreaming about everything else being sorted out, a valve spring rule would go a long way in making all of the other stuff irrelevant.
(Paul, lets not forget ALL of the Buick V6 cams too!)

Chuck, a valve spring rule would go a long way in making that irrelevant.

I for one don’t feel sorry that bougus parts that were pushed though the buddy system are now rescinded. The NHRA has been telling me to go FXXk myself for years trying to get replacement parts for the combo that I run. I could buy 10 of those intakes for what it cost to buy a set of castings for my car. Oh well, guess you will have to work with the original parts. Welcome to stock eleminator

That manifold should of never been approved. It never came on a car and was not a replacement part but a high performance piece from the direct connection catalog. The description in the old DC catalog says that it’s perfect for super stock or modified. This was just like letting the AMC guys have a 780 Holley for their 290 Inch motors. NHRA needs to be more knowledgeable about these older combinations, there are still a couple of guys around that know and they should use their knowledge to keep from making these mistakes.

On another note if you see any of the Chevy guys running the new Edlebrock heads, ask them how they got to the right runner volume. 185 cc intake runners don’t get to be 165 without some serious work.
