I believe DeFrank & Cohen ran several cars over the years, now trying to find out who's they were originally, well that's a different story...think they even ran a '68 Hemi Dart as well at one time.

I seem to recall the yellow / red / black Defrank & Cohen Barracuda being for sale by Eddie Smith at the '91 Mopar Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. Eddie had 3 class legal SS/AA cars there that weekend. The DeFrank & Cohen car had recently undergone an update and cosmetic restoration and it was flawlessly detailed. I'll try to scan some pics of all the SS/AA cars that were present ath the Mopar Nationals that summer and post them here. Back when SS leaf springs and ladder bars made for nosebleed wheelies in that class.

Eddie Smith was always known for having state of the art cars in competition.

It would be great if you would share those pix here from the era when these cars still had some resemblance of a factory available car.
When you look at the technology that's built into todays competitive SS/AH cars it's a long way away from it's roots.
I wouldn't want to even TRY to bring back a current car to pre 1970 status.
The original cars that are still in competition today will most likely always be upgraded to current competitive updates because there's just not enough left of the original to be financially feasible to return them back to leaf springs etc.
Don't get me wrong, it's great to see guys are still pounding on these old war horses.They are doing exactly what they were originally built for.
But, I am missing those "nose bleed" wheel stands that they were most famous for. Now they leave like a pro stock car.

Modern SS/AH is an incredible class from an engineering standpoint, but it has become very uneventful to watch ...almost like Pro Stock Lite. We've watched our beloved Mopar Super Stocks go through a bunch of transitions over the past 50 years, from factory exotica to early Pro Stock to hand me down bracket warrior to Concours restorations.

The ones that I dream about lately are the competitive cars from the late 70s / early 80s. Cars like Bob Marshall's A990 with factory trunk floor, notched frame rails, 14 x 32 slicks mounted on Super Trick wheels, simple roll cages and nosebleed wheelies from SS springs and ladder bars. I first fell in love with Super Stock back then and that era of car / driver made a profound change in my automobile tastes that will last forever.
