IHRA Stock GT Truck
Considering a build and need some input. I have a 92 S10 I have been considering Building a IHRA Stock GT truck out of. Question is what v8 engine and trans. combo would you build that would keep it slow enough to not require a roll bar. I was thinking some sort of 305 2bbl combo. This would be a IHRA thing only. Any thoughts would be great....Thanks

Re: IHRA Stock GT Truck
To run a 1992 S10 in IHRA Stock GT you need a 180 or so hp rated motor if you run the body style as an E.L. and remember you can add weight, ie full fuel cell, weight box. I will say this, adding a rollbar will open your options as far as running a faster class and def. can ask for more money when you sell. 2nd gen is heavier so if you find a good motor you could go with a 95 or 96 body with a higher hp motor and still be in same class.

Re: IHRA Stock GT Truck
Suggest you consider a build that can cross over to NHRA.
IHRA stock trucks (GT/SA etc.) can run NHRA classes or IHRA. My truck started as a GT/SA and when our only IHRA track changed to NHRA it was J/FIA and now R/SA. Even if you only plan on running IHRA the truck will be more saleable if it can run NHRA tracks. There is a P/S S-10 that runs well in D1. |
