Why not make it a separate "class" in conjunction with stock and have it all run, not to interfere with normal stock eliminator?

Brett, something like a CIC race! I agree it would be nice to see more of this type of racing, I think it should not only be 8 cars with blown and NA cars competing for the same spots. If they did 2 classes and bring it to a 16 car field a lot of issues would be solved, on both ends.

What is the assumed destiny for the FS/XX cars that don't make the top 8 this year? Same as last year - where the non-qualifiers "transfer" into Stock?

I don't think the idea of transferring is fair to those who have travelled miles with "traditional stockers" to try and qualify. If you choose to run the FS shootout and don't qualify, you should have to go home. Not sure that's what the factory guys want to see.

How many more shots do you want them to have?

It should be a choice: cake or ice cream, Stock or Factory Shoot Out, but not both.

I am with Jim on this one. If they don't qualify, then they go home - or stay and watch.

Or make it a 16 car field - like the PROS.

Last year it was a 16 car field, 8 blower cars and 8 n/a cars. The final was the winner of each class. The rules have been changed so that the n/a cars are not competitive any more. They all got to race in Stock. Nhra and the manufacturers have screwed this deal up big time. These cars should be featured on Monday at the US Nationals. They should not be able to run in stock at the bogus indexes they have. Every one of these cars has an index in FS that if they want to run in stock eliminator they should have to run on.
