Cool 1969 Zl-1 Camaro

A friend just called and his friend is rebuilding a 69 Zl-1.
Thinks it would be worth $1,000,000 when it's done.
I told him IF the numbers all match maybe $400/500, 000 at a big auction.
Where can I go to look up the vin #.....block #...head #..intake #, etc.
don't know much more.

For it to be worth $1,000,000 it would have to have to be united with its' original engine and transmission and date coded rear end. All internal drivetrain components would also have to be correct and dated.
The hardest part is that all the fasteners and brackets would have to be correct.

All these cars and their history are known by some of the people on Yenko, net.
I have been a member there since the mid 90's and that is the site to go to, if you need of have information.

These cars do not change hands very often.

I can't see it getting anywhere near a million, your estimate is probably close,if it's a no questions asked, real deal, born with engine, trans and BE rear end. And a high end restoration,or a survivor.Unfortunately, very, very few of these cars still have the born with engines. One of the two original RS ZL-1's might approach one million, nothing else.

Hi Tom, there is a all original restored one here in Ohio a friend has but the best person to contact is a fellow Stock Eliminator racer Jerry MacNeish. Simply put his name online search with CAMARO and see his results. You will be impressed! There only a few original engine cars around. Good Luck. A VERY costly restoration to make it worth the number your talking about.

Central Office Production Option (COPO) 9561 was a 1969 Camaro was 427-425hp L72 engine w/ ZL2 fresh air hood, HD cooling and 4.10 service package rear axle. Disc brakes were a mandatory option along with either 4-speed or automatic trans. No exact records are known, but there were about a 1000 produced. 396-375hp aluminum head L89 engine was RPO (regular production option)

Tom, if your friends friend has not done so,have him check his dash vin against the easily located published list of the 69 ZL-1's. If it's on the list, remove the cowl panel and check the hidden vin stamped on the cowl.
If all the vins match one of them on the list,he might be in business.
The vins are on the Camaro Research Group website or Yenko .net.
