Re: Goodyear 4457 Radial
The tires don't seem to go bad or change with age. To save my 4457 with almost 200 runs for class at the Gators I used the test tires at the second D2 points race. The test tires were made and tested in 2012 and run until the production tire was available in July 2013. We made the change to the production tire at Norwalk 2013. The test tires were only used after Norwalk to let other racers try them on there car.
The test tires ran as well as the 4457 production tire. |

Re: Goodyear 4457 Radial
I ran the 6303 radials for years, after a 9 year layoff I'm on the 4457's, and can't seem to get a handle on them at all.
I took off 10 year old 6303's that were xeroxing time slips to the 60' @ 1.36-1.37, haven't had anything better than a 1.42 on the new tires, and have had to lower the 2-step RPM's by 600-1000 to have a chance of racing the car. I had always done a "dragster" burnout with the other tires, except on real cold tracks. They feel from the seat like the sidewalls are stiffer, maybe my shocks can't control these tires? Any ideas? I had at least 10 sets of the 6303 tires on my car and loved every pass with them, getting 125+ runs from them bracket racing. |

Re: Goodyear 4457 Radial
The side walls are a little stiffer. My heavy car likes the stiff side wall, 1.29 in good air 1.33 to 1.34 in bad air. You may have to play with your combination to see what it likes.

Re: Goodyear 4457 Radial
The 2nd gear burnout seems to be a big help, at least the tire surface looks much better.
I may have to upgrade my rear shocks to handle these tires. I would rather adapt to a tire that I can trust than keep piling up unused slicks. |

Re: Goodyear 4457 Radial
Finally got the chance to try the 4457 this weekend. We began in woodburn on a MT 3066 which was very fast but had cords showing after 40 passes. The 4457 was not available so we opted for the hoosier co6 30x9. 570$ later we are slow in the 60 and front tires barely lift. Got to sonoma and still the same so after 3 passes the hoosiers are removed for 4457. 60 returned - tires up we are happy. If we can get 80 passes and as fast as the 3066 we will be super happy. Our car is very hard to hook. PS thanks to the Goodyear dealer once again $460 mounted.
MT 3066 1.48 best of 1.45 Hoosier 1.52 4457 1.49 Just our results K/SA

Re: Goodyear 4457 Radial
I'm thinking of putting something else on my car, would anyone that is coming to Indy be interested in these 4457 Goodyears?
About 35 passes on them, I'd like to get a reasonable offer ($300 ?), delivered to the pits @ Indy PM me for my phone if interested, I'll get them off the car this week. |

Re: Goodyear 4457 Radial
I'm purely a bracket racer, any opinions or data on how the 4457 works for bracket racing? We have been running the Hoosier lightweight radials for 3 years now & get 100 - 125 passes out of them.
