Default East Coast 2025 Alternator Heat

Just installed an East Coast Auto Electric 2025 one wire alternator midmount kit with 5 inch balancer pulley. It is a one wire. After idling for 10 -15 minutes with it charging, it seems to be pretty hot. Anybody using this alternator, is this normal? I called them but they are on vacation till next week.

The harder they have to charge the hotter they get,
also be sure the fan blade behind pulley is in place
or they'll over heat from no air movement.

Also forgot to say be sure your battery is in good
shape to start with that prevents it having to over
work to maintain a full charge.

I know this is a old thread. But there were not many responses. So I figured I'd add my experience. I just got my EC alternator this week and installed it last night. Battery had been on the tender since I unloaded the car a few days ago. And is new and shows its 100% charged. So I got all finished up installing it this AM. And I started it and after it ran for a few min (8-10) mine was getting warm too. So I guess it may be normal. I would not say it was HOT. But it was very warm to the touch. Mine does not have a fan.

Update - I talked with East Coast and the temp is not an issue. Have run the car with their setup for a while now, no issues. Even had a couple of runs with the battery a little low and it fed all my stuff (MSD, Holley pump, radiator fan and water pump) and the car did not fall off.

Mine came without a fan also. Very happy with the unit/setup. Recently had a charger failure so had to be jumped off before making a run, the car only fell off .02 running on a low battery so the alternator was able to run the MSD, fuel pump, water pump etc OK.
