Most reliable ring gear for GM 8.5
What is the most reliable gear for a GM 8.5 at the moment.. Currently have a 4.56 Richmond but heard they have moved everything across the pond.. No one makes a pro gear for an 8.5 so I guess I need the best street gear going right now..

Motive of Italy bought Richmond, whose tooling was worn out--at least that is what I heard. I have had good results with Motive gears from Italy. A good set will have no more than .002" runout around the ring through several revolutions so each pinion tooth eventually hits each ring tooth.

Re: Most reliable ring gear for GM 8.5
Fleming,
What ever you get make sure it is made in the USA !!!! The other stuff won't last 10-15 runs !!! Ask for only USA made , don't waste your Time or Money ??? You can tell by the price if there made in the USA , its always more money.... But well worth it, unless you like changing gears every-week ?? Do it right the first time, its always cheaper in the long-run. Good Luck & be smart ..... Motive, made in Italy/ Germany is an excellent sub for USA made ....

Fleming,
Strange [and I expect others] sells the U S Gear brand. I have installed several of that brand with good results and good service life. If you want extra insurance you can have the gear set Cryo & REM treated at a cost about equal to the gear set.

Also, considering your application and it's performance range the out of the box gear set will most likely give acceptable service.
