Re: New Super Stock weight breaks for 2017
I doubt it. You will be at the same weight unless you decide to move up or down a class. The only thing that might effect the index is if they combine the stick and auto classes. I could see that happening.

Re: New Super Stock weight breaks for 2017
Even if they use the stick index I would be going from a 10.65 index to a 10.95 stick index in GT/IA at the same weight that I was in GT/EA, no way the are just giving me 3 more tenths? Now if they use the superstock index for GT and SS my GT/IA index would be 10.70, my index would be back to within 5 hun of what it use to be. Basically then SS and GT would be almost the same weight vs index. Dick Butler may have been looking through a crystal ball, once they have this the next step would be combining GT/SS, that would cut classes in half. looks like a HP to weight break off the same index to me?

Herb, Only thing which would be in affect if they combine SS and GT into one set of classes would be the HP in a GT chassis versus HP in a SS car. With all the adjusting done for the past years it might actually be close for fwd versus rwd.(Jelly bean shape versus larger cars)

Re: New Super Stock weight breaks for 2017
The way I interpreted the change would be the class designation would change. GT/EA would now be a GT/IA at 10 lbs/ HP. You would have the same numerical index of 10.65. They are just bringing the GT classes and weight breaks in line with the existing SS class structure. If the stick classes were combined with the autos then a weight or HP factor could be added to the stick cars or a weight reduction could be given to the auto cars to try to balance the class. Right now with my combo the stick car has less HP than the identical auto combo but carries a quicker index.

Re: New Super Stock weight breaks for 2017
Mike, if I carry my 10.65 index along with me in GT/IA then all of the indexs would be changing to which is why I asked. Right now the GT/IA index for stick is 10.95 and automatic is 11.20

Re: New Super Stock weight breaks for 2017
I must be reading the change wrong than those on here getting all excited, ie. Beard and Butler.
All I see is they added four lighter weight breaks. 6.00-6.50, 6.50-7.00, 7.00-7.50, 7.50-8.00. That's it! No mention of combining sticks and autos, SS and GT, etc. Nobody is gaining an advantage here, just adding lighter weight breaks. Remember when they did it in stock, (AA/SA)? Same thing here, only now your letter will change. |

Re: New Super Stock weight breaks for 2017
I get it, all I am asking is are they going to adjust the index to. If they don't it means that I am going to be a GT/IA car at the same weight that I was in GT/EA. Nevermind

Re: New Super Stock weight breaks for 2017
From the revision that has been discussed here:
SECTION 11A: SUPER STOCK, DESIGNATIONS (Page 11) (1/28/2016) DESIGNATIONS (For 2016 season) FGT/A, FGT/B, FGT/C, FGT/D, FGT/E, FGT/F, FGT/G, FGT/H, FGT/I, FGT/J, GT/A, GT/B, GT/C, GT/D, GT/E, GT/F, GT/G, GT/H, GT/I, GT/J, GT/K, GT/L, and GT/M, preceded by car number (manual transmission). GT/AA, GT/BA, GT/CA, GT/DA, GT/EA, GT/FA, GT/GA, GT/HA, GT/IA, GT/JA, GT/KA, GT/LA, and GT/MA, preceded by car number (automatic transmission). DESIGNATIONS (For 2017 season) FGT/A, FGT/B, FGT/C, FGT/D, FGT/E, FGT/F, FGT/G, FGT/H, FGT/I, FGT/J, FGT/K, FGT/L, FGT/M, FGT/N, GT/A, GT/B, GT/C, GT/D, GT/E, GT/F, GT/G, GT/H, GT/I, GT/J, GT/K, GT/L, GT/M, GT/N, GT/O, GT/P and GT/Q, preceded by car number (manual transmission). GT/AA, GT/BA, GT/CA, GT/DA, GT/EA, GT/FA, GT/GA, GT/HA, GT/IA, GT/JA, GT/KA, GT/LA, GT/MA, GT/NA, GT/OA GT/PA and GT/QA, preceded by car number (automatic transmission). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the originally published 2016 rule book: SECTION 11A - SUPER STOCK, DESIGNATIONS FSS/A, FSS/B, FSS/C, FSS/D, FSS/E, FSS/F, FSS/G, FSS/H, FSS/I, FSS/J, FSS/K, FSS/L, FSS/M, SS/AH, SS/A, SS/B, SS/C, SS/D, SS/E, SS/F, SS/G, SS/H, SS/I, SS/J, SS/K, SS/L, SS/M, SS/N, SS/O, and SS/P preceded by car number (manual transmission). SS/AA, SS/BA, SS/CA, SS/DA, SS/EA, SS/FA, SS/GA, SS/HA, SS/IA, SS/JA, SS/KA, SS/LA, SS/MA, SS/NA, SS/OA, and SS/PA preceded by car number (automatic transmission). SECTION 11B -SUPER STOCK/GT Requirements and specifications for GT classes are the same as those for Super Stock classes - Section 11A - with the following exceptions: DESIGNATIONS FGT/A, FGT/B, FGT/C, FGT/D, FGT/E, FGT/F, FGT/G, FGT/H, FGT/I, FGT/J, GT/A, GT/B, GT/C, GT/D, GT/E, GT/F, GT/G, GT/H, GT/I, GT/J, GT/K, GT/L, and GT/M, preceded by car number (manual transmission). GT/AA, GT/BA, GT/CA, GT/DA, GT/EA, GT/FA, GT/GA, GT/HA, GT/IA, GT/JA, GT/KA, GT/LA, and GT/MA, preceded by car number (automatic transmission). It looks to me like SS and GT are going to be merged under the designation GT. The new revision is titled Super Stock 11a, but all the classes listed are designated GT. The text makes reference to GT only and includes the "year optional" for the engine, so maybe an error in the section title? Dale
