HP rating for this combo?
Just curious if the HP rating for this combo has changed because of the performance at Vegas. And, if not why hasn't it?

Re: HP rating for this combo?
No. I don't believe it has, or will.
The ET was 9.616 which corrects to a sea level run of 9.453. the sea level GT/IA index is 10.65 which makes the run corrected to sea level -1.197. Close but no exploding cigar for Larry. I will say the reported adjusted altitude was 4100 for that round which makes that one bad hot rod. |

Runs of 1.200 or more under the index will be reviewed and adjusted Tuesday following the event. Runs at all NHRA National, Sports National, and LODRS events, including those at altitude factored race tracks, are included in the 1.200-second-or-more-under analysis

Re: HP rating for this combo?
'86 thru '92 F body, and '85 thru '91 Corvette is all the same L98 engine. Why would year model matter. Factory hp rating is different? Some had different camshafts, which are not used in SS or SS/GT. Should be automatic hp the following Monday, right?

Re: HP rating for this combo?
Ed -
Part of the explanation is that the hp increase is for SS/GT RWD, aftermarket heads, auto transmission combinations only. Not all the '86-'92 L98 engines meet those conditions. Some do and were not touched, and some have that 279 rating for FWD already, but at 275 for RWD. I do not always understand the reasoning in the distribution of different power ratings for the same engine, so here is another example.

Re: HP rating for this combo?
Its a dish piston with replacement heads. Only 2 years with this spec, makes perfect sense that only this combo in a RWD gets hit. Thats why we did it. The standard "L98" that we ran last year and most guys run is a flat top engine.

Re: HP rating for this combo?
Wow I have never had the heads off one of those with dished pistons. Guess I need to get out more.

Re: HP rating for this combo?
Wouldn't the new h.p. rating apply to any RWD/GT car. ? .If I were to put that combination in my 2000 Firebird would it be 270 or 279?
