Default weather station/ET prediction

I plan on buying some kind this winter looking for advice. Handheld since I have open trailer?
What brand,which version etc.?
How close does your car run to what your device predicts?
Do or can you rely completely upon what it says or use combination of several things(log book, lick your finger and hold it up in the wind, actually saw Mike Boyles do that and ''Good Ol Charlie Brown" run # he picked off the trailer)

Mike,

I have an Altronics Performaire hand held unit. It has been real good and reliable. Mine is an older one but still works good. The info out is only as good as the info you load in. I have a 25 run data base programed into mine ove a wide range of weather conditions and I never add to it. I use it for comparison only. I track + and - compared to the predicted ET and base my dial on that. You also have to factor in the wind. Very useful tool!

I use the altalab stuff.. I take all my runs to sea level and that usually tells the truth if it was a goofy run, plus I always subtract my incrementals..

I set up database for the track I go to and only put good runs in the data base.. it is usually pretty close.. BUT if you change anything on your car (timing, gear etc..) you got to start a new one..
