Default Racing in a division other than where you live?

Got a question for you guys, Is it legal/allowable to chase points in a division that your home is not located? About a year and a half ago, I moved to northwestern Pennsylvania. I am now in division 1. My problem is the division 3 races are all much closer to me. Has anyone raced primarily in another division and is this OK to do?
Thanks-Ed.

Happens all the time. You can claim whichever division you like.

What Tony said, you just have to claim which division you’re going to have your points count toward at your first division of the year. You can’t claim a division and then switch it during the year.

Yep and you can keep your competition number. I know a few d1 guys that run div 2 and still have d1 numbers.

I live close to you in Northeast Ohio, I raced and claimed D1 for a few years and used the closest D3 races as my out of division ones.
There are a number of D1 & D3 comp guys from up in our area that actually claim D2 as home due to the schedule in D2 being so different from summer time schedules here.

Wouldn’t be surprised if a bunch of Comp folks claim D4 for 2022. Possibly some others as well.

We had quite a few D7 racers in D4 this past year.

Easier tow than running D5…definitely some unique challenges to running any Division but think folks like the Volkmans, Fletchers and Yo Ken have found a sweet spot of the country with the West Ky and TN racers coming in a close second. With the way 2022 D4 Bonus is set up for points I’d predict the first race at No Problem will be jammed.
