Default Four Days in May

Hard to believe but it's already been 10 years since that drama filled weekend that included the race to be the first stocker to run in the 9's and the first of the west coast-east coast hemi meetings. I was there for it all, it is a weekend that will live in my mind forever. It seems like it was yesterday but I look at the pictures and realize it was 10 years (damn wrinkles!) How time flies and how drag racers keep working and making their cars go faster. Dad was the first to break the 8.60-zone for the hemis and now the top hemi guys are running low 8.20's. 4 tenths in 10 years...wow. I can only imagine what the next 10 years will hold.

Doesn't seem like ten years already. The Larry Pfeister video from that weekend is a must-have for your drag racing DVD collection (as are his other sportsman videos).

I to have the video, it is great! But I wonder with the lack of Hemi Shootouts and what seems like a increase number of hemi's being sold, coupled with the new Hemi's becoming more popular. My question is will the Challenge of the 68 Hemi's ever come back and have any amount of cars? I mean the new CJ's are running 8.60's easy. Thoughts?

Thumbs up Re: Four Days in May

I really love that video. I think I now want to break it out and watch it! I might even have a Cameo in it with my car, or was that "Monsters of Launch"? LOL! I know I am in one of them.

Jeff,,,It was "Monsters",,,I had it playing a couple weeks back,,and noted your car to a friend who was watching with me,,that this particular Malibu has had a very good 2011 so far. I've just about worn out my Horsepowerheaven collection,,may have to seek out Larry and get replacements.

Thanks Danny!

My brush with fame! Jody has certainly done better with the car than I ever did. I had 1 Combo win at Mission with it, but really didn't have (or currently have) the funds to take it out more and go for wins.

I have a great story about towing to Boise with Larry Pfister years back. I think he felt bad about all my bad luck towing and racing, and put me in the video. I'll always be appreciative to him. He is a great guy and the biggest fan of Stock/Super Stock and racing in general.

My copy has been in our player so long it wont come out, It's stuck!

Those that have the "Monsters of Launch" tape can only appreciate the sight & the sound of Allan Lee's Black Barracuda rockin & rowing thru the gears.

Thanks for the ride Mr Pfister!

True story. I only wish Al would resurface with his car.

Bobby DeArmond deserved that piece of Stock Eliminator history.

I even have a nice color photo of his car in the Camaro Gallery in my 1969 Camaro fact book stating what happened and the accomplishment. That book is our best seller!

Congrats again Bob.
