Default DA shock adjustment

70 Nova, BBC, ladder bar, TH400, foot brake, Santhuff springs uncut, Strange DA's and Calvert 90/10's. Launch rpm is 2700 to 3000.

The tires spin about .3 into the run with an audible chirp. It doesn't do this every run. I've softened the extension to 0 on the left and 1 on the right. The compression is about in the middle on both shocks. My understanding is to stiffen the compression. Is the correct adjustment?

Thanks for any help.

Ron… Have you altered your ride height since the last time you posted with this problem? MB.

The back of the car is lower by about an inch, I think. I think the last time I asked for adjustment advice Jeff Lee helped but I wasn't clear about his thoughts on compression. I also may have been running a 9" tire then. This is with a 14" GY tire that is about 4 years old.

I might be able to post a video on youtube.

Cant expect much from 4 year old tires. There is more in front shocks than rear.

The section width on these GY's just fit under the car. The local Hoosier guy will mount a tire just for measuring. I had to go to a 32x12" tire in Hoosier to get the same section width.

You might be right Eman and I'll probably try a little tighter on Sunday. I need tires and I can't decide on Hoosier 12" or MT 12W, which measures 13

Ron...We tried to help you in your original post back in August 2012 with the same problem. Do you still have the same front springs (Santhruff uncut)? Like Ed said you need to make the front work and go with the new M/T's. Have you tried leaving at a higher RPM? MB.

Ron, my 70 Nova BBC had Moroso front springs, 90/10 Lakewood front shocks, Koni dual adjustable rear shocks, 9" tire stocker. With mine, we set the extension very stiff at about 1-2 clicks from the stiffest setting and the compression at the mid point of adjustment. Car would launch at 3400 with 60' best of 1.41. My thought was to slow the extension of the shock as much as possible so the car could get out farther before the suspension reached full extension. We felt that if it reached full travel too quickly it could unhook the tires at that point, sounds like that could possibly be happening in your case,
just my 2 cents.....
