Decal adhesive remover
Not a real tech-y question but here it is.
Removed a bunch of decals and now have to deal with the old, nasty adhesive residue left behind. Goo Gone worked ok on the softer residue..not so good on the harder residue. Same with WD40. Any experience with what works well appreciated. Thanks! -Al

Re: Decal adhesive remover
I have not tried or know anyone that has used it. The rubber disc on a drill that is sold at Harbor Frieght may work. They claim it's a decal remover and does not hurt the paint. IDK

Re: Decal adhesive remover
It does work, but you have to be VERY careful when using it. By that, I mean go slowly, and don't push too hard. You will ultimately "get a feel" for where you need to be with pressure and speed, but at first, you most definitely can burn the surface. I found it to be very helpful in speeding-up the job, but was nervous the entire time.

You may want to try a heat gun or hair drier, warm the panel up a bit and use a plastic razor blade
, or a plastic squeegee. I would follow it up with some rubbing alcohol.

Re: Decal adhesive remover
Turtle Wax make an aerosol spray that I just used. Spray it on, let it set a few seconds, soft cloth will remove it all. Works much better than Goo Gone IMO.

Re: Decal adhesive remover
Heat gun and keep it at the right distance and rubber scraper like as it was suggested.

Re: Decal adhesive remover
3M works great, let the product do its thing and wipe off with a soft cloth.
may take 2 applications on the real tough ones. Take your time , not much force required. |
