Do both cars loose? or does the car closest to passing win?

If you both screw up - you both loose.

More confusing. competitors D Q 'd for tech reasons different
than winners or loosers on the ladder. If both D Q'd neither
moves on of course. Being devils advocate even further
if both break out maybe both should loose as well??
That could be real fun as well.

Perhaps double breakout - both loose would lead to fewer breakouts.
