Re: Jere Stahl in hospice
Peace to you Jere Stahl. I did not know him but learned more about his amazing career & contributions after studying the 1966 A/S battle between Jere and the Grump.
We are lucky to have such pioneers, with the spirit of innovation and the willingness to bring it hands-on into reality. |

Re: Jere Stahl in hospice
from Bill Stiles :
Tom: In 66 we won 4 races in NHRA I did not have the car finished for the Winternationals. The first race was at Bristol and Stahl beat Mike Schmint for the final . the second race i think was Dalas and we beat Jenkins for the final. the third race was Indy and Stahl beat jenkins for the final. the forth race was World finals Tulsa and we beat Jenkins for the final. Dalas is my Question not sure. There was only 5 NHRA races that year. Has anybody ever won 4 races is a row in NHRA?? Stock or SS Stock?? I know Sox won 4 races in 68 but they were not in a row. Bobby Warren won some races a couple years. Can you check on this ?? As anyone won 4 in a row ? I know of 2 in a row but not 4. |

Re: Jere Stahl in hospice
Dan Fletcher won the western swing in 1994 with his Checkmate Camaro.
That was Denver, Sonoma, and Seattle. I know its not 4 in a row, but it is pretty good for a sportsman, and goes right up there with Jere Stahl. When I was a kid, you didn't run anything but Stahl headers if you wanted to win. Walt |

Re: Jere Stahl in hospice
After much checking found Stahl won 3 in 1966 not 4, Peter Biondo won 3 in 2007 & Dan Fletcher won 3 in 94 & 98.

Re: Jere Stahl in hospice
Aside from being a moumentally successful and talented header builder, Jere also played the piano, I heard. I always wondered what style of music he chose to play. Has anyone here any information about that? If it was anything like his other talents, he was probably VERY good it it!
R.I.P., Jere...

Re: Jere Stahl in hospice
Don't know about his skills with a piano.
However, Jere was considered to be a leader in the dyno world, his expertise in setting up a dyno and a room were respected universally, as were his skills in operating a dyno, collecting data, and evaluating it. He also was quite skilled in designing roller camshafts, and well respected in the camshaft world as well.
