Re: Update on my foxbody
Got to the 1/8 mile last night with the 5.13 gears. Got four runs in before the water pump started leaking. Best was 8.58 that was an improvement of .067 The 60ft. improved by.08, the 330 ft by.18 ... not much of an improvement.
Now that I have a bad water pump, I think I"ll change it over to a elec. set up. What are the rest of the stock foxbody racers running and what are you useing for a legal belt setup ? I still have a power steering pump. All in all it has not been a bad year, the car has impoved by1.06 and 4.3 mph in a 1/8th all on a bone stock motor ! Lets hear about your water pump belt setup, remember legal stock. thanks Slickfoot |

Re: Update on my foxbody
Don't need power steering in a drag car,,, convert it to manual. Get an electric water pump,, there are many brands available, choose within your budget and then get an aluminum radiator with a fan,, probably puller style, then you can mount a trans cooler in front of it,, suddenly you don't need a fan belt! My 2 cents,,, good luck with your project.

I run the small moroso motor to drive factory water pump. I have a flexalite electric fan.

Re: Update on my foxbody
I wish I could run an aluminum radiator but not in NHRA. OK in IHRA.
I do have an elec. fan, it didn't do anything for the ET, the stock belt driven one must be pretty good. As far as finish line RPMs I didn't watch that close, it was my 1st day with the 5.13s and a tack with a shift light, but I would say 5000. Before the shiftlight I was shifting it by the stock tack and by feel. I felt like I was waiting to shift with the shiftlight set at 6000. I backed down to 5500 and no change in ET . I also short shifted in to 2nd on the 1st run by mistake with the same ET. these are the four runs before the waterpump died, 8.58 w77.72mph 8.59 w77.08mph 8.62 w77.08 8.59 w 77.47 I think it's out of motor Slickfoot |

Re: Update on my foxbody
We run a 90 Conv, and we just removed the power steering pump and looped the lines - drives fine cost $0.00 !!! Avoid MT 275's cost us a tenth. Ran 8.01 last week and this is a street car at O weight 4.56. Trying to run 7.90 to run IHRA SS/NA so we picked up an explorer intake to try then some tuning we just leave the spout out and 36 degrees. Have fun
