Dan,

Things are going to get worst before they get any better ... Racers & People are really hurting out there ... Gas, food, hotels, no-job ????

It's going to be a long year, racers willl stay close to home in this bad economy... Who can blame them , it's still early in other Divisions ... It will be good for the home tracks & Sportsmen type combo races like Numidia , Pa & East Coast, AllStar type events...Back to basics where it all started .... Time will Tell....

Cool Re: Car Count

Looks about right in stock.
Tomorrow they will get another 10 or more.
Stop crying and go racing,
That will help the count.

I believe not running class in Gainesville has hurt a lot.
People like me didn't mind towing 1000 miles because they thought the class win money would offset the costs.
Plus the fact that 2 grade points or less will get you into any national event.

No more guaranteed class money anymore. Now everyone has to race for it. May keep some people away that has to depend on that money to be able to show up. Bummer.

Fuel prices aren't helping anything. We keep hearing it's going up.

Dan,

Unfortunately, I am missing the race this weekend due to a bad cold. Unemployment is over 14 percent in Tampa, where I happen to live, and the overall economy has been hit hard in Florida. You can go to a Lightning (NHL Hockey) game down here for $44, and that gets you two tickets, two beers, two hot dogs and a parking pass. That is unheard of in the northeast. Gas prices are high, etc. Why do people always want to comment about the obvious, or is this just another attempt to get on the bash-NHRA train?

We all know that the NHRA isn't perfect, we really get it, no business is. But most of us who want to race will go and race. If you don't want to race then stay home, it's really pretty simple, no commentary is needed.

Virtually every business in the US is suffering. Gee, let's start a thread about IBM not selling as many computers in 2011, or McDonalds not selling as many burgers.

Really?

Evan

Good post.

14%? Wow! 6% here, guess we are very lucky.

You did'nt catch the sarcasm in my statement? LOL!
I get tired of the NHRA bashing also.
I am all to familiar with the cost of going to races.
Thats why I believe local associations such as ECSSA and ASRA are at least one way to go in our future.
