Braille Batteries
Any one using there light weight in a EFI car with alternator? Do the hold up? Was thinking of losing 20#s by switching from a full size to a smaller braille. Thanks

Re: Braille Batteries
There was a thread last year about lightweight batteries. I used an 11#
Braille in my Jeep 4.0 and it was not enough! After using a 15# Deka PowerSport I ended up with a 21# Deka Powersport (Walmart sells them under their name). East Penn battery is the maker of many different name batteries. I suggest the 21 lb unit on anything that has FI, elect fan and waterpump, MSD ign. I also charge between rounds. |

Re: Braille Batteries
Not efi Russell, but I use one (B3121) in the Camaro. I've only had it in the car for a year, but it seems to be fine. Be advised the Braille charger will not operate with many generators.

Re: Braille Batteries
We run two 11.5# in the Cuda and they last about three years. They work very well.

Re: Braille Batteries
We tried a ProLite Lithium battery a year ago in the COPO Super Stocker. 120 amp alternator regulated to 18 V max as we where told by ProLite. Charged it to green one night before loading, pulled out the next day and it was stone dead. Needed a $350 rebuild, used it for 3 outings and had it in the car for maybe 2 months. Pretty pissed off since we asked a lot of questions about it before buying. Took it out and sold it. Maybe it was a bad one, maybe not, but either way it ended up costing me a lot of time and money.

Re: Braille Batteries
I'm on my third yr. with one in a EFI mustang, stock alternator. Works like a champ. I put it on a trickle charger at home every once in a while. For running the electric radiator fan between rounds I use a separate deep cycle battery so I don't need to charge the braille battery between rounds. It's in a pure stock car so it has oem water pump.

You will like the Braille Battery, standard or lithium. Email me and I can give you a direct contact at Braille to discuss your needs and take your order.

Re: Braille Batteries
Thanks Brian - The same one that is in the Camaro. Just sitting here thinking about it I really should just swap that one out to whichever car I plan to run on any weekend. Don't know of any scenario where both cars would go to the track at the same time since we don't have the means to transport more than one. I figure the worst thing for a battery is sitting idle, tender or not.
