Has to be an EFI car that came with a computer shifted Trans, right?
Not all injected cars did.

Any shifting has to be done internally not by a solenoid or air bottle in stock. The popular e shift that the fuel injected cars use is computer controlled but does not move the shift lever.

According to the 2014 rulebook that I reread today Ed is correct.....the only trans that can be shifted legally with the E-shift is a vehicle that came OEM with a computer shifted trans and not all EFI vehicles have computer controlled transmissions.....my combo doesn't so I can't use one.....

Throttle body injected GM trucks started with computer controlled transmissions in 1991 HD2500 (3/4 ton) trucks and 1 ton trucks. 1/2 ton trucks started that in 1993. Camaro/Firebird/Corvettes began electronic shifting in 1994. Before that only thing the ECU controlled in the Trans was the torque converter clutch lock up.

I don't know about Ford or MOPAR.
