Kessler 5100 weather station
Kestrel 5100 model. Anyone familiar with this unit. Thermometer appears to be off 8 - 10 degrees. Directions show how to calibrate the barometer and altimeter which I was able to do, however nothing on the temperature. Received this for Christmas from my children. Is this a decent piece ? Thanks for any input/info !

I have one and it works great. Are you holding it when checking the temp? You have to hold them a certain way or it can throw the readings off. I hang mine from the underside of my canopy out of direct sunlight.

The 5100 is the new model, if you are finding it is off on the temperature inside your house, I would contact Kestrel. At track, walk around with it a bit to cool it off when in direct sunlight. I change the batteries once a year whether it needs it or not. Great product. My antique dates back to 2010 maybe older? I had to replace the wind meter and lost the wind cover and the soft pounce over the decade, it came with a nice tough pouch too back then. Gives you a lot of useful info, and its small. I just ordered a brand newee 5100 from biondo racing like my original. Will see if I like it as much. I can't see where I wouldn't. Eric

Re: Kessler 5100 weather station
Thanks Mitch and Eric for your reply. I believe the thermometers I was comparing temperatures with were what was off. My in house thermostat thermometer shows the 5100 dead on. Happy New Year ! 👍

Re: Kessler 5100 weather station
Glad you got it worked out. I hold mine with my hand positioned down low on it as to not throw off the temp sensor.
