Ford 7200 vv carb.
I have heard these are a "finicky" carb, is this true? Who does work these into race carbs? How hard are they to work on compaired to any other carbs?

If you insist on running one, keep a couple of spare diaphragms in your tool box. I can not imagine anybody wanting to run one.

The reason I asked is the combo I have been looking at comes with this carb. As per NHRA stock rules, you are allowed to run the latest non-computer carb; this carb is computer controlled. What I have been looking for is the specs to this carb so I can find a compatible carb replacement. I have been looking online but I haven't found anything yet.

I suggest you contact Glendora, or at least your division's tech staff.
If you look, the blueprint guide may have the throttle bore diameter listed, and you may be able to find some sort of Ford OE carburetor that has the same throttle bore diameter, that they will allow as a replacement. The previous models probably used some version of the Motorcraft two barrel, there may be one of those that can be used in place of that perverted abomination they called the 7200 VV.

For some reason, when I download the engine spec sheets, I get alot of mumbo gumbo with it and have to decipher everything to get the right specs. As far as non elect. carb goes, 2700 carb is the non elect. of the 7200 from what I have gathered. Obvious choice would be 2150 carb, but until I email Glendora, I won't know.
Now, if I get a no from Glendora, how would I go about getting the 2700/7200 carb to work? Is removing the varible venturi legal modification? What makes this carb so "evil"? |

If they won't allow a different carb, you would be wise to change combos. It is a trouble prone P.O.S. as we have tried to make clear.

Guys, we're not building a daily driver here.
Seems to me, it only has to be part way open on the line and then WFO the rest of the way! If it were me , I'd figure out how much air it would pass, and then decide if I wanted to make it work.

They won't flow much. Very small. Cars that came with them were very slow. A plain old Motorcraft 2 bl, or the small Holley replacement really woke those cars up. It had better have an extremely low hp factor. If you are at all familier with that mess, you know it was an emissions/gas mileage deal that just did not work out. Those abortions were thrown away right and left.
Guess Ford thought it was time for another Edsel. LOL
