They are basically the same platform and only differ in W/B by 3 inches.

The 67 Mustang with a 390/320 hp is rated at 319 with iron heads and 327 with Edelbrocks and so is the 67 Fairlane with a 390/320hp, 319 with iron heads and 327 with Edelbrocks.

Mustang has 108" W/B, but the Fairlane has a 116" W/B. When considering HP changes per AHFS they are both averaged together.

I don't agree with that, but as long as it is the same.......

What about Mopars? They seem to adjust hp based on W/B. Just asking.....

Early Challenger and 'Cuda differ by 3" of wheelbase and they are considered the same. IMHO, Fairlane and Mustang should be different.

Billy

This whole deal could be easily dealt with, just have NHRA publish the HP/Platform list that they use, so everyone would know what is going on.

I feel assured that there is a master list about this otherwise how and the heck could they keep track of "Who" went too fast and in "What" concerning AHFS and Instant Horsepower hits.

Should be easy for them to just publish it for everyone's benefit.

You do think they have a list......???

No, I don't think that they have a list. I think that they grudgingly write down just what they NEED to write down and rely on the memories of a certain few old-timers for the rest. Plausible denial.

I might be wrong but, I thought the six cylinder Mustang was built on Falcon based platform and the Eight cylinder Mustang used a Fairlane based platform.

Three years.

Doug look at the fifth paragraph from the bottom on the AHFS explained. In that same general area it also explains how to get the power removed, just follow directions and fill out the form!

Six cylinder Mustangs use Falcon suspension and steering parts. Eight cylinder Mustangs use Fairlane suspension and steering parts. The platforms are basically the same. Kinda like a Dart and a Barracuda.
