Default Mike Delahanty-Ford Performance Drag Racing Program Manager

Mike Delahanty, one of our live reporters is now the Ford Performance Drag Racing Program Manager. Many of you know that Jesse Kershaw has moved on from this position. Jesse was a great advocate for Ford racers and did much for getting many competitive combinations approved.

Mike will also make a great liaison for Ford racers in all the sanctioning bodies. Mike’s has a vast knowledge in many forms of racing, but from talking to Mike, he has a great passion for Drag Racing. I know some Ford racers were worried about who would replace Jesse Kershaw. Be rest assured that the Ford racing community is in good hands. Evan Smith had a chance to talk with Mike about his new position. Check out Class Racer Magazine to find what Mike had to say.

OK so Mike is the new Jesse but here's the ringer Jesse saw the hand writing on the wall and bailed. FORD just doesn't care about Dragracing they have no funds($$$$$$) for it. It's going to fund the Ford GTs in road racing ( you could fund two or three years of a great Dragracing program one that alone). Now let's talk about the NASCAR program they added SHRs four cars and are funding 410 engine development program for Tony's Sprint car team. Then there will be a 358 engine the a Midget engine. Add the dollars Penske, Roush and Pettys teams. So what kind of dollars will Mike get for Dragracing? Not much at all cause there is so little left and not much if any at all for way it has always been in Detroit by the Auto Company's. It's just a way of life in Detroit!

Why not keep it a congratulatory note to Mike? Whatever Mike inherits he will manage it with Sportsman racers at the forefront of his mind so don't think anyone can ask for more.

Congratulations Mike. Great to have YOU in that position. Now can you put IHRA cars back on the contingency list.

Midget engines are usally about 166 cubic inches and a good percentage of them already have a Ford engine.
