At a cost of $2808,,,,,,,,,,,

Production numbers; 13,785

Was it the last 'performance car' that was priced under $3000.

I don't know if these AMC cars were really under the $3000 dollar mark, maybe for a striped down base model...the article says the base price of just $2,663 about $40 below the ’71 Duster 340. It was more than competitive with the other compact muscle offered at that time, including the Duster 340 and its twin, the Dodge Demon 340, and the Chevy Nova SS 350 and the Ford Maverick Grabber with the 302...I guess someone here will have to double check those facts & figures.


Or how about a V-8 powered Gremlin...did they even sell any of these units at any of the AMC dealerships.

There were lots of 304 gremlins up here they were pretty quick right out of the box . My brother in law had one with a stick ,man did he beat on that poor sucker.---Trevor

Your right, I forgot about the little Gremlin X model...but I'm thinking this was a compact car compared to the others.
