Opel was owned by GM until 2017. Maybe put a 327 in a 68-69 Kadet for SSGT?

Really love reading about your builds. Hopefully I can get restarted on mine and contribute here with it. In the meantime, since the Opel was brought up, here's one, (not mine), if anyone's interested. Found it advertised while wasting time online last night. Have a great weekend...

Opel GTs are pretty cool, not sure if the wheelbase is long enough though. Also likely be a bit tough trying to fit a carbed V8 underneath that very low hood, maybe a EFI setup would fit. not to mention getting any size tire in those tiny wheelwells and very short overhang.

Minimum wb is 85 inches. 68 Opel GT is 97.7. Kadett 91.5. I know the GT was popular in the old Modified classes, but there was more leeway with the body for fitting a V8 in the bay built for a 4 bannger. Might be difficult with the SS and GT rules. Does GM make a good 4 or 6 cylinder? If this were a Ford body I'd look at a 4 cylinder Echoboost

EDIT: SS/Modified Stock could work. SS/DS is 6 cylinder, SS/ES is 4 and SS/FS is small displacement engines. Fiberglass hoods with scoops are allowed. Lots of leeway with engine building.

Forget the GT ,if you want to get it into W/Stock...a 4 cylinder only class.
You can make it with a 71 1900 series. I don't know what that is, but I seem to remember it not being too attractive..That's the good news.
90 hp isn't a bad rating but..no compression, .370 lift cam, good luck getting a cam blank, pistons.
Solex 2bbl. various jets ???

Pass...

Mark,

This place has probably everything you need for an Opel GT, including headers, cams, suspension, etc...

Solex carbs are easy to work on and there are many sources for jets.
