Default Banquet Highlights

Been a little quiet over here since the banquet so here's a little info on what went on. I'll start with the rules meeting, there have been some changes on the bod, as Greg has resigned and I have retired. This opened the door for some new blood and it went like this, Marc Lebrecque and T.J. Boucher have been elected to 3 year terms and George LaBelle has filled the 2 year spot left by Greg.
There was some discussion about time trials and a vote was taken to go with 2 at all the races. The bylaws have been completed and will be sent out to the members shortly, they'll be more on that later, but a BIG Thank you to Vic Santos, Tom Boucher and Gene Monahan for putting them together. There was also a conversation about the broken car/switching car rule for the shootout and it was great to see Joel McMahon chime in on why and how this rule came about. For those who don't know, Joel is one of the founding fathers of the ASRA and he still has great vision for this association.

On to the banquet, it was a very cold night but 80+ friends of the ASRA showed up for a great time at a really nice place. Todd Bednaz did quite well for himself, winning the best appearing car and the Peter O' Moran sportsman of the year award, congrats Todd, and a very surprized Stephanie Markow won the Supportive companion award. We honored the track champions with Tim Stickles and Joe Santangelo tied for the NED champ and Wayne Delmonte from LVD crowned Todd Bednaz the LVD champ. Then the race winners were recognized along with the shootout winner. Next up was the top 10 of the Banks Championship, with Joe Santangelo the big winner on his 3rd ASRA Championship, jacket, champion plaque, and some big money he got it all. The top 10 was awarded wall plaques provided once again by John Gray and photos from Chris Barnes who also snapped a bunch of pictures of the festivities and award presentation, thanks guys nice job as usual. To add a little twist we held a raffle for the top 10 for a free 2015 membership. They through the names in a hat and had Joey pull one out and sure enough he pulled his own name out! So beware Joey is back for another year to defend his title. The other membership raffle was won by guess who? Dean Cook, imagine that, Dean winning a raffle, congrats Dean, couldn't happen to a nicer guy. And the lucky Jane Santagelo won the 50/50 raffle. Thanks to all who donated door prices and attended the party.
