Default Shipping a motor.

What is the best way to ship a complete sbc? Freight company or a company that hauls cars and parts?

I had a SBC from NJ to AZ shipped by freight company. We didnt know each other and I sent half and when it arrived freight company allowed me to open crate and check it out and I was happy and paid freight company the balance. It was a good deal for everyone.

Fastenal does internal shipping for a reasonable price, if he crates it or puts it on a pallet, and drops it off to the closest one to him, they will deliver it to the fastenal of your choice. and when you pick it up you pay shipping.

If you can palletize it securely and deliver it to them and have arrangements on the other end a freight company will be PK. They will charge more for liftgate delivery especially to a residence. Best bet is for you to drop off and receiver to pick up at the freight company dock.

I have shipped several engines and transmissions with R&L Carriers. Easy to deal with and the service was fast and reliable. The best price is if you pick it up at their dock. Give them a call for a quote.

Mark Kirby (also a class racer) of Lynn Traffic Services will get the job done and will provide guidance on crating, etc.

One more, I shipped a complete engine from Calif. to Florida for a very reasonable price fully insured using Forward Air. Just needed to crate motor and deliver it to their location and it was picked up in Florida at their facility.
