LT1 tuning help
I took delivery of Peter Oliviera's 94 Camaro stocker yesterday in Las Vegas. I will be racing it in the nationals this week. I need some tuning help with it. I know nothing about tuning a fuel injection system yet. I will learn it. It is the Holley Commander 950 system. It has a severe drivability problem between idle and 3000 rpm. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks for any help.

Re: LT1 tuning help
Darrel, you sound just like me when I bought my F.I. Stocker. I kept opening the hood looking for the q.j. carb. I still don't know much, but I assume when Peter last had the car it was fine. That would have been at Seattle which right now-6:00 CST at my house, is at 823 FT. Vegas right now is 3881. Just like when you go to Denver, it's too rich. It is still too rich above 3000 RPM, it just clears up to make it more drivable at higher rpm. Phone Peter, tell him you want to lean it 3 numbers or 5% from 4000 down to idle. If it still feels funny, go down 1 number at a time until it runs the way it should. Just think of 1 number on the Laptop (up or down) as 1 jet size in your carb. Let me know if I can help, or find you help. J.R. Haddad.

Re: LT1 tuning help
Try changing the map sensor and coolant temp sensor. There are ways to check them but if you are unfamiliar with the software it might be faster to change them at least just to rule them out as the problem.

Re: LT1 tuning help
Got it to run thanks to Derek Hake! He found a tune to load. I loaded it and it runs great! Thanks Derek. I'm pretty excited about this fuel injection thing now but have a BUNCH to learn. Thanks everyone else for the suggestions.

Re: LT1 tuning help
The 950 is a pretty easy system to play with. I started with it and eventually moved into a FAST 2.0 this summer. Pay attention to your logs and what they are telling you.
I fought an idle to 3kish misfire all summer. Turned out to be my opti. I put one of the MSD billet jobs in there and no more issues. Something to keep in the back of your mind. I have found these are fun cars to drive and there are some really fast ones out there. Have fun with it and if you need help, let me know.

And for what it's worth, toss the Holley 950 and put a Holley HP setup in there. |

Re: LT1 tuning help
I'd love to do that but that'll be a long time before I can do that probably. $1600 upgrade Holley said.
