Default Torque Converter

Just installed a new converter. Went to stall the converter and went to 3000 then to 5500. I've never seen one do that. Converter guys please help.

Are you doing a static "stall test", where you hold the brakes, mat the accelerator pedal, see how high the tach goes, and then release the accelerator pedal?

Just as bad.

If you cannot fully release the car with your foot on the throttle, never do that, ever.

It drives the stored energy right back into the sprag and the stator.

That said, your problem could be anything, from a converter problem to a mismatch, to an ignition problem.
