I have purchased every aluminum polish available. I've gone to the Mid America truck show and ck'd out every brand of polish. Mothers has to be the worst of the bunch, too much work not enough results!
The purple California polish works good. White Diamond that is available at places like Advance AP is good. There's one called the lazy man's wheel polish that works well and they also have a mild acidic cleaner that removes oxidation before you polish. Also another one that works well is Smith's and it comes in different grades of coarseness.

Ok I will stick my 2 pennies in also, Flitz is my metal polish of choice. Hatteras yahts' factory is located here where I live and alot of the guys I know that work on them swear by it. They also make a polish for plastics and fiberglass that works very well. I have used the Zephyr also and was very pleased with it as well. Now if I could just find the time to use them, everyone is not retired you know Mr Larry!

What works:

Walmart carb. cleaner, Walmart break parts cleaner, less than $2.50 for a 14.5 Oz. can. Jeff Taylor Performance cylinder wall preparation, calling it a hone job just doesn't give the process full recognition.

Pro Trans, Joel's on Joy, and Arnett Transmission.

Here's another product that works great. This non abrasive polish works good on aluminum but also works on plastic like lexan windshields. Same company makes other plastic polish also and I have been able to get overspray off of plastic with it.

Vic, I've been using Turtle Zipwax wash and wax for quite now. You have to scrub it with a long handled brush, but eventually it gives a bit of shine to the vehicle.
It's not Blue Corral, but hand waxing an RV or an enclosed trailer just ain't my thing.

Flitz is my favorite polish too. I bought my first can of it out at the Sturgis motorcycle rally back in 2010.

If there is one that don't leave all that messy black residue I would be all for it. I spend more time waxing away the black residue off my trailer trim than I do cleaning it with aluminum cleaner. wax seems to take the black residue off better than anything.

I tried the purple metal polish! I have a brand new bottle, minus the little bit that I used, that I will ship to anyone that wants to pay the shipping! It didn't save me much work after I had to redo with Mother's Billet Polish!

Thanks,
Nick

You don't like it Nick .. Man I really do .. But I always use the drill motor with a buffer wheel ( one of mothers) on it ... Are you doing it by hand ? ... I guess I'll go buy a bottle of Billet ....
