Comes with a 8.8 and a posi.
Almost all Mustang parts will fit.
If I had the extra $4-5 grand and time we would build one in a second.
We probably have enough spare parts to get one under the index without touching the motor.
For anyone considering this combo (Billy Nees approved!) - but could not find a nice enough Lincoln to do it with... I would recommend closely examining today's class guide updates. Specifically, the 1985 Fords.

IMHO, the Lincoln is still one bad U/SA combo but the Mustang should be a pretty good N/O/P combo.

Why not put one of these "penny savers" together and support the guys who appreciate your business?
I just thought that this advice is worth bringing to the top!

1985 CFI had Twin 1.50" throttle bore diameters and 2 injectors. Factory issue injectors was 39 pounders I believe.
It's possible to run the index with that 325-350 cfm throttle body, but it will take some doing.

After several PMs with Billy and one with Dwight I went with the ‘81 Camaro 267-2V combination for U/SA. Post 37, pg. 4. With Billy’s advice, and with help from 2 of my sons, Tim and Matt, Doug Hobgood, Jeff Flores, Doug Smith, Bill Bogues, and my good friend Mike Moller, this car has run a best so far of 14:19 @ 92.74 mph. .65 under the U index. Working with the Rochester dual jet carb has been a challenge however Doug Smith built one for me that works just fine. This past year added a Tim Sloan Metric 200 and an Ultimate Converter from Lenny Crouteau which really woke this combo up. She may be slow, but having a blast running this car and she has more in her. Gonna keep thrashing on it and special thanks to all of the above friends who made this all possible with me.
Since this thread has been revived I have an update on my 267 combo. As of Oct. 2023 I have run a best of back to back 14.00 @ 93.63 mph and 93.40 mph respectfully while testing at the day before the start of the D2 Rockingham Divisional. .85 under the U/SA index . Air was decent but not stellar that Thursday. Qualified for the first time in the top half of the field the following morning with a 14.09 @ .75 under. I had never tried radials on my car before and thanks to my good friend Bob Kelliher who lent me pair the car went .08 quicker with just tire swap. Been having a blast with my slow stocker, only drawback is how much the weather change affects how she runs with that little dualjet carb !

There is a very nice 78 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 301 available in my area, not sure 2 or 4bbl. Is there still hope for that ?

That's one of those "ya gotta go and look at it" deals. If it's a nice car, I'd buy it anyway. Base and LJ GP's are 301/2Vs. SJs can be 2V or 4V BUT they could all possibly be 305/2V Chevys! THAT would be the better "Dime Rocket".

With the rumblings of a U/SA shootout coming around again, has this boat been brought up yet? 1991 Caprice Wagon with 305/170/210. The combo works real well in the lighter cars and should be even happier hauling some weight in U/SA.
