Talking Re: Av gas

I would think it would be, back when I started racing in 1989 that's all we used but that's probably because we didn't know any better 😂

For starting and basic running its ok. Stock car racers love it but it just builds to much heat and bad for lubrication. You can add marvel mystery oil for lubing

I wouldnt leave it in the fuel system too long. Run it all out or drain it when your done...

Nothing wrong with running 100 LL Avgas. I got friends of mine running it in 15.1 race engines and using a 350 shot for finish line games no problem. The racer that won the Million a few years ago Johnny Bracket Racer runs it in his SR 20 615 and he has lots of racers that run it down their in the deep south. It will last way longer than race gas before it goes bad.

I put some in my '71 Duster bracket beater last fall as I needed some fuel to move it around at home...left it in all winter with zero issues. Topped off the tank with some fresh Sunoco and the car went 11.55, 11.54, 11.55, 11.56 first time out. Motor is around 11.5-12:1.

I used to use it locally in a 9 to 1 400 Pontiac. Couldn't tell the difference from C-12.
Oh yeah, I could...The price!

Up until a few years ago, you could pass off Avgas as one of the approved fuels. Once that was discovered , they killed that one in a hurry.

My brother has an aircraft restoration business. He uses 110LL in every thing that requires high octane gas, his hot rods, boats, golf cart, off road stuff. In 5 gallons he mixes 1/2 cup Lucas fuel injection cleaner/conditioner and 1 cup toluene. I’ve used this formula for years in my street Fairlane as Weber IDF carbs won’t tolerate ethanol. Lasts a long time in the car, no side effects.
I buy it at a local Airport that has a self serve pump.

A long time ago, while on active duty, we all ran 115/145 Purple AV Gas in everything we drove. The price was right. It was the best smelling fuel that I have ever used. Up on the wing filling tanks, that fuel was so volatile it cast a shadow across the wing...
